Watson and 13 others protesting the <br />proposed vacation of alley between 13th Avenue East and 14th Avenue East from <br />Willamette to Oak Streets, was submitted and read. <br /> <br />It was moved by Hawn, seconded by Koppe that the petition be received and placed <br />on file. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />fif."";_,, <br />.~".... ....' <br />.,1;,. <br /> <br />~ <br />~ <br />OC <br />22 <br /> <br />A petit ion of Martin Finke, 925 Clark Avenue and 21 others', seeking <br />the installation of a street light at the corner of North Adams Street and Clark <br />Avenue, was submitted and read. <br /> <br />23 <br /> <br />It was moved by Crumbaker, seconded by Hawn that the petit'ion be rece'ived and <br />placed on file and that the office of the City Manager be instructed to order <br />the installation of the light through the Eugene Water Board. <br /> <br />, A peti tion for improvement, signed by Roy Brown and 2 others, repre- <br />sent~ng 85% of the abutting property, seeking the installation of concrete curbs <br />and gutters on Grant Street from the South line of 11th Avenue West to the alley <br />between Grant and Chalubers Streets, was submitted and read. <br /> <br />It was moved by Davis, seconded by Bailey that the petition be approved and the <br />necessary improvement ordinances be drawn. <br /> <br />24 <br /> <br />A petition for improvement, signed by Paul W. Campbell, ArntRee and <br />Howard C. Lorence, represe~ting 50% of the abutting property~Obe served and re- <br />questing the improvement of.Van Ness Street from 24th Ave. to Mission Ave., <br />Mission Ave. to 23rd and 23rd to Columbia, was submitted and read. <br /> <br />It was moved by Hawn, seconded by Davis that the petition for improvement be <br />approved and the necessary ordinances drawn. <br /> <br />25 <br /> <br />A petition for improvement of the alley between Harris and'Potter <br />Streets, from 18th Ave. East to 19th Ave. East by penetration macadam, was sub- <br />mitted by W. R.Manerud and 2 others, representing 43% of the abutting property <br />to be served. <br /> <br />It was moved by Davis, seconded by Hawn that the petition for improvement be <br />tabled and referred back for further investigation. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />26 <br /> <br />A communication from Mr. Bruce E. Woodruff, seeking permiss~on to in- <br />stall a mobile unit on the streets of the City for the sale of novelty food items <br />and/or popcorn, was submitted and read, together with a letter from Mr. H. E. <br />Janes of Gresham, Oregon, seeking permission for the installation of a popeorn <br />wagon on the streets. <br /> <br />It was moved by Hawn, seconded by Crumbaker that the communications be received <br />and placed on file and that the matter be referred to the City Manager for in- <br />vestigation and report. <br /> <br />27 <br /> <br />A communication from the Eugene Water Board, stating that the Board, <br />in meeting March 11, 1946, duly approved participation by the municipal Electrical <br />and Water Utilities ih the public employees retirement system of the state of <br />Oregon, pending action thereon by the Common Council of 'the City, was submitted <br />and read. <br /> <br />It was moved by Davis, seconded"by Crumbaker that the comraunication be received <br />and placed on file and that the Council go on record as approving the partici- <br />pation of all City departments in the State Retirement System. Motien carried. <br /> <br />28 I <br />I <br /> <br />An application for rooming house license by ~wrtle 1~y Shepherd, 754 <br />Lincoln, having been approved by the Chief of Police, was submitted. <br /> <br />It was moved by Koppe, seconded by Bailey that the license be approved. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />29 A petition signed by Glenn Snook and 103 others for annexation af the <br />following described area to-wit: <br /> <br />Comraencing at the intersection of the South line of 22nd Avenue West <br />and the West City limits of the City of Eugene, running thence North along the <br />West City limits to the South line of Fifteenth Avenue West, thence Westerly <br />along the South city limits of Eugene to a point 903 feet East of Chambers Street, <br />being the East line of the municipal airport, thence South 520 feet to the South <br />line of D.L.C.
