FUNDS AND LEAVES ROOM NUMBERS I, 2, 3, AND 4 WHICH ITIS RECOMMENDED BE <br />LEASED TO THE SAFETY DIVISION OF THE C.A.A. <br /> <br />INASMUCH'AS THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PAID 56% OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE ADMINISTRA- <br />TION BUILDING, THE C.A.A. AND WEATHER BUREAU CAN 'PAY FOR ONLY JANITORIAL SERVICES, HEAT <br />AND WATER. IT WAS TENTATIVELY AGREED THAT EACH AGENCY WOULD PAY ALL OF I TS OWN <br />ELECTRICITY BILLS. A REVIEW OF SIMILAR CHARGES IN KLAMATH FALLS, MEDFORD, SALEM, BOISE <br />AND PORTLAND SHOWED THAT THE HIGHEST RENTAL WHICH EITHER OF THESE AGENCjES WERE PAYING <br />WAS 66i PER SQUARE FOOT PER YEAR. IT WAS TENTATIVELY AGREED THAT THEY WOULD PAY THE <br />CITY OF EUGENE 75i PER SQUARE FOOT PER YEAR FOR THE FIRST YEAR AFTER WHICH A RECAPITULA- <br />TION OF ACTUAL COSTS WOULD BE MADE. IT WAS FELT BY MEMBERS OF THE C.A.A. AND WEATHER <br />BUREAU THAT THIS WAS HIGH BUT W~ ASSURED THEM THAT THE RATE WAS BASED ONLY UPON ACTUAL <br />ANTICIPATED COSTS OF EXPENSE INCURRED IN THE OPERATION OF THE NEW ADMINISTRATION BUILD- <br />ING. THIS WOULD AMOUNT TO AN ANNUAL RENTAL OF $812.25 FOR 1,083 SQUARE FEET FOR THE <br />WEATHER BUREAU AND $1,038.75 FOR 1,385 SQUARE FEET FOR THE C.A.A. <br /> <br />IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT THE SA~ETY DIVISION OF THE C.A.A. UNDER CHARGE OF JACK <br />FENEY BE RENTED THE DOWNSTAIRS AREA INCLUDING ROOMS I, 2, 3 AND 4, TOTALING 610 SQUARE <br />FEET AT A PRICE OF $2.00 PER SQUARE FOOT PER YEAR AT AN ANNUAL RENTAL OF $1,219.92." <br /> <br />IT WAS MOVED BY BOOTH, SECONDED BY GODLOVE THAT THE CITY MANAGER BE AUTHORIZED TO ENTER <br />INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH C.A.A. AND THE WEATHER BUREAU FOR SPACE IN THE AIRPORT ADMINISTRATION <br />BUILDING UNDER THE TERMS SET FORTH' IN THE REPORT. MERLE BAILEY OF THE <br />EUGENE WATER & ELECTRIC BOARD WAS ASKED TO'OUTLINE TYPES OF LIGHTING AND RELAT-ED COSTS. <br />AT A PREVIOUS COMBINED MEETING OF MEMBERS OF THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND THE STREET <br />LIGHTING COMMITTEE, MEMBERS OF THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BROUGHT OUT THE FACT THAT ORNA- <br />MENTAL STREET LIGHTING IN THE DOWNTOWN BUSINESS AREA SHOULD BE GIVEN ATTENTION AS SOON <br />AS POSSIBLE AND SUGGESTED BOUNDARIES OF LINCOLN STREET ON THE WEST, HIGH STREET ON THE <br />EAST, RUNNI NG FROM 5TH TO II TH AVENUE I N AN ENDEAVOR TO BETTER I DENTI FY THE CENTRAL <br />BUSINESS SECTION. <br /> <br />PRELIMINARY STUDIES OF COSTS OF LIGHTING THIS AREA INCLUDING WILLAMETTE STREET FROM <br />THE DEPOT TO 17TH AVENUE AMOUNT TO APPROXIMATELY $262,000. THE TYPE OF INSTALLATION <br />RECOMMENDED COULD BE EITHER MERCURY VAPOR OR INCANDESCENT TYPE LIGHTING SUSPENDED IN A <br />PENDULUM TYPE FIXTURE FROM A METAL POLE APPROXIMATELY 27 FEET, 2 INCHES IN HEIGHT WITH <br />A FOUR FOOT A~M AT ~I~HT ANGLES TO THE CURB LINE. THIS WOULD INCLUDE UNDERGROUND.
