THE <br /> IRREGULARITY, IT WAS POINTED OUT, IS A PROJECTION Of THE SIDEWALK AND CURB AT THESE TWO <br /> CORNERS OUT INTO 18TH AVENUE. THIS WAS CAUSED BY THE fACT THAT 18TH AVENUE BETWEEN <br /> WILLAMETTE AND OAK IS A WIDER STREET THAN 18TH AVENUE BETWEEN WILLAMETTE AND OLIVE. <br /> e IT IS THE RECOMMENDATION Of THE COMMITTEE, SINCE THIS APPEARS TO BE A DEfiNITE <br /> HAZARD TO PUBLIC SAfETY, THAT THE COUNCIL APPROVE THE REVISION Of THIS CURB CONSTRUCTION <br /> TO REMOVE THE HAZARD. <br /> I 4. ALLEY ENTRANCE TO FERRY STREET BRIDGE APPROACH - THE COMMITTEE WAS INfORMED BY THE <br /> I <br /> I' <br /> CITY MANAGER AND THE TRAffiC ENGINEER THAT THERE IS A'BREAK IN THE WEST CURB ON THE <br /> I SOUTH APPROACH TO THE FERRY STREET BRIDGE TO PERMIT ACCESS TO THE EUGENE TRANSfER AND <br /> STORAGE COMPANY, AND THAT THE MEDIAN STRIP ON FERRY STREET IS CUT BACK TO ALLOW NORTH <br /> II BOUND VEHICLES TO'TURN WEST INTO THIS AREA. THE STREET IN fRONT Of THE WAREHOUSE IS <br /> ABOUT TWO fEET BELOW THE LEVEL Of FERRY STREET. IT WAS POINTED OUT THAT VEHICLES <br /> ENTERING THIS OPENING WHO STOP BACK Of THE CURB LINE CANNOT POSSIBLY SEE VEHICLES <br /> II SOUTH-BOUND OVER THE BRIDGE. <br /> IT WAS EXPLAINED BY THE TRAffiC ENGINEER THAT MOTORISTS DESIRING TO GO NORTH ACROSS <br /> THE FERRY STREET BRIDGE OfTEN TAKE THIS ROUTE IN PREfERENCE TO THE 4TH AVENUE APPROACH. <br /> IT WAS fURTHER EXPLAINED THAT THESE DRIVERS COME THROUGH SKINNER'S BUTTE PARK; TURN <br /> EAST ON 2ND AVENUE; JOG SOUTH AND THEN EAST INTO AN ALLEY WHICH BRINGS THEM OUT AT THE <br /> TRANSfER COMPANY. <br /> . IT IS THE RECOMMENDATION Of THE CITY MANAGER, AND CONfiRMED BY THE PUBLIC SAfETY <br /> COMMI TTEE, THAT A NO LEFT TURN SIGN BE INSTALLED ON THE POST IN THE MEDIAN WITH SUCH <br /> SIGN TO BE fACING ~EST TO PREVENt THE HAZARDOUS ENTRANCE AT_~HIS POINT. <br /> 5. REQUEST fOR STOP SIGN AT 25TH AND HARRIS - IT WAS EXPLAINED BY THE CITY MANAGER <br /> AND THE CITY TRAffiC ENGINEER THAT A REQUEST HAD BEEN RECEIVED fOR INSTALLATION Of A <br /> STOP SIGN AT THE INTERSECTION Of 25TH AVENUE AND HARRIS STREET. IT WAS EXPLAINED <br /> fURTHER THAT A DETAILED CHECK Of THE ACCIDENT RECORD AT THIS INTERSECTION WAS MADE AND <br /> THAT THE fOLLOWING fACTS WERE ESTABLISHED: <br /> A. No EXCESSIVE RESTRICTION Of VISION ON ANY OF THE fOUR CORNERS. <br /> I B. VEHICULAR APPROACH SPEEDS RANGED fROM 20 TO 25 (ONLY TWO VEHICLES OUT Of <br /> 52 EXCEEDED 25 MPH.) <br /> C. ONLY ONE ACCIDENT I'N THE PAST fiVE YEARS (MAY 1953) <br /> D.
