HAD <br /> SWEPT 285 MILES OF STREETS. MINOR ADJUSTMENTS WERE MADE BY fACTORY PER- <br /> SONNEL AND SOME DIFfiCULTY, WAS OBSERVED REGARDING BROOM WEAR AND A DE- <br /> FECTIVE PART WAS REPLACED ON, THE BROOM CORE. IN THE OPIN~ON OF THE SUPER- <br /> INTENDENT Of MAINTENANCE THE MACHINE WAS SATISfACTORY AND THE RECOMMENDA- <br /> TION OF THEPUBLICWORKS DEPARTMENT WAS TO PURCHASE THE AUSTIN-WESTERN <br /> SWEEPER. THE COMMITTEE RECOMMENDED THAT THE PURCHASING PROCEDURE TO AC- <br /> QUIRE THIS AUSTIN-WESTERN SWEEPER BE COMPLETED. <br /> 2. IT WAS ALSO NOTED THAT STUDENTS COM- <br /> ING fROM THE WEST TO THE, NEW JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL WERE CAUSING A PEDESTRIAN <br /> PROBLEM ON CHAMBERS STREET FROM 18TH AVENUE TO THE ENTRANCE Of THE SCHOOL <br /> AT 22ND AVENUE. AFTER DISCUSSION THE COMMITTEE RECOMMENDED THAT A PERMA- <br /> NENT SIDEWALK BE INSTALLED ON THE SOUTH SIDE Of 22ND AVENUE BETWEEN VAN- <br /> BUREN AND TYLER STREETS, AND THAT A PERMANENT SIDEWALK BE INSTALLED ON <br /> I THE WEST SIDE OF CHAMBERS STREET FROM 18TH TO 22ND AVENUE, AND fURTHER <br /> THAT A RECOMMENDATION BE MADE TO THE BUDGET COMMITTEE THAT FUNDS BE ALLO- <br /> CATED IN THE 1958-59 BUDGET fOR THE INSTALLATION OF A SIDEWALK ON THE <br /> EAST SIDE Of CHAMBERS STREET FROM 18TH TO 22ND AVENUE., <br /> I <br /> II 3. THE COMMITTEE DISCUSSED THE PROPOSAL Of <br /> e INSTALLING CURB SIDEWALKS AT THIS LOCATION AND IN THE DISCUSSION IT WAS <br /> INDICATED THEY DID NOT BELIEVE THAT CURB SIDEWALKS SHOULD BE INSTALLED <br /> ADJACENT TO THIS AREA SINCE THE POLICY Of THE CITY HAD BEEN TO NOT ALLOW <br /> CURB SIDEWALKS UNLESS THERE WAS SOME PHYSICAL FEATURE MAKING SUCH SIDE- <br /> WALKS NECESSARY. IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT THE STANDARD SET BACK ON THE <br /> NORTH SIDE OF 24TH AVENUE BE ADHERED TO WHEN SIDEWALKS ARE INSTALLED AT <br /> THIS LOCATION. <br /> 4. DISCUSSION REGARDING AGREEMENT BETWEEN DOUGLAS CLINE AND TWO OTHER PAR- <br /> TIES WITH RESPECT TO A ROADWA~ fROM Fox HOLLOW ROAD TO THE NORTHEAST <br /> PORTION Of SPENCERS BUTTE PARK - A PROPOSED AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY <br /> OF EUGENE AND THE OWNERS Of PROPERTY ADJACENT TO SPENCERS BUTTE PARK <br /> WHICH WOULD GRANT TO, THE CITY A ROADWAY WAS READ, TO THE COMMITTEE. THE <br /> AGREEMENT SPECifiED THAT THE CITY WOULD ACQUIRE A 60' RI4HT-Of-WAY fROM <br /> THE THREE CONTIGUOUS PROPERTY OWNERSHIPS fOR AN EXISTING ROADWAY. AS WELL <br /> I AS FOR A CONNECTING LINK fROM THE SOUTHERLY END OF THE EXISTING ROADWAY <br /> TO Fox HOLLOW ROAD. IN EXCHANGE FOR THE ROADWAY THE CITY AGREES TO GRA- <br /> VEL THE EXISTING ROADWAY fOR A DISTANCE OF 530' FROM Fox HOLLOW ROAD, TO <br /> DITCH ALL EXISTING ROADWAY AND BY THE FALL OF 1958 TO GRAVEL THE REMAIN- <br /> DER Of THE EXISTING ROADWAY. THERE WAS SOME DISCUSSION BETWEEN THE COM- <br /> MITTEE MEMBERS AND MR. CLINE REGARDING THE RIGHT-Of-WAY WHICH WOULD BE <br /> DEEDED WHERE THE ROADWAY RUNS ADJACENT TO SPENCERS BUTTE PARK BUT THE <br /> RIGHT-OF-WAY WAS LEFT AT 60'. <br /> e <br /> i <br /> , ,~ <br />
