THE <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER INDICATED THAT HE AND THE POLICE DEPARTMENT HAD MADE CHECKS RE- <br />GARDING SPEEbERS IN THIS AREA AS WEL~' AS THE NUMBER Of AUTOMOBltES 'TRAVELLING IN THE <br />AREA, AND A 24-HOUR COUNT HAD SHOWN 424 AUTOMOBILES TRAVELLING PATTERSON STREET BE- <br />TWEEN 20TH AND 24TH AVENUES. SPOT CHECKS HAD BEEN MADE AND ONLY A LIMITED NUMBER <br />Of VEHICLES HAD EXCEEDED THE SPEED LIMIT; IN FACT, ON THE SECOND' DAY OF:THE CHECK <br />PERIOD NO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WERE OBSERVED' USING THE STREET. <br /> <br />SINCE THE TRA~~IC COUNT WAS NOT HEAVY-AND SINCE THE INSTALLATION 'OF A STOP SIGN <br />WOULD BE AT AN ABNORMAL LOCATION, THE TRAFfIC ENGINEER DID NOT RECOMMEND TH~T THE <br />REQUESTED STOP SIGN BE LOCATED AT THE INTERSECTION~ THE COMMiTfEE 'RECOMMENDED T~AT <br />THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE TRAFFIC ENGINEER BE APPROVED." <br />, <br /> <br />No ACTION WAS TAKEN ON' ITEM 2 OF THE REPORT:Of THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE AS MR.
