<br />5'5U <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />4/13/64 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mrs, Lauris moved seconded by Mr, Chatt that the proposed agreement between the State <br />'of Oregon and the City of Eugene regarding the installation of traffic light at the <br />intersection of 6th and Pearl be approved. Rollcall vote. All 'councilmen present <br />voting aye, motion carried. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt that the Traffic Engineer be requested to re- <br />turn a report concerning removal of parking from 6th and 7th Avenues betwen Blair and <br />High Streets, with a recommendation. Motion carried, Mr. Christensen voting no. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />14. Speed on Dillard and Fox Hollow - The State Speed Control Board recom- I - <br />mended a speed of 40 mph on Diltard and Fox Hollow Roads from Hilyard <br />Street to south City limits. <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />15. Speed on Pacific Highway West - Because of the annexation of the Bethel- <br />Danebo and chang~ in jurisdict-ion ov;er Pacific Highway West through' the . <br />City of Eugene, the State Speed Control Board recommended continuation <br />of existing speeds on the section of Pacific Highway West within the <br />current limits of the City of Eugene. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved-seconded by Mr.Chatt that-the recommendations of the State Speed <br />Control Board be 'approved with regard to Diliard and Fox 'Hollow Roads and Pacific <br />Highway West. Motion carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />16. Lease Agreement United Air Lines - The City Manager presented a pro- <br />posed lease agreement..to be entered into between the City of Eugene <br />and United Air Lines which extended the lease period for the pr~sent <br />United t~rminal buildirig at Mahlon Sweet Field until the new terminal <br />building is ready for occupancy. Uniteq Air Lines also agrees to <br />transfer 'ownership of their present terminal Duilding to the City of <br />Eugene when the new terminal building ii occupied. <br /> <br />!l <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to approve the lease agreement extension with <br />United Air Lines .until the new terminal'building at ManIon Sweet Field is ready for <br />occupancy. Rollcall vote, All councilmen present voting aye, motion carried. <br /> <br />:5 <br /> <br />17. Curb Sidewalk, Elanco, Montreal, Winnipeg, and Jo~ly Streets - Ellison <br />& Platz'requested permission to-locate sidewalks at the curb. on these <br />four streets. The Pub~ic Works Department recommended approval except <br />on Elanco, as Elanco ~t some future date may have to be widened. <br /> <br />11 <br />I <br />j <br />I <br />I . <br />~ <br />I <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved secorrled by Mr. Chatt that curb sidewalks be allowed on Montreal, <br />Winnipeg, and Jolly Streets, but that sidewalks on Elanco Street be',set back at the <br />standard location. Motion carried. <br /> <br />6 <br /> <br />18. Cal Young Road Right-of-Way - The Department of Public Works had appraised <br />a 20-fdot strip of~property on Cal Young Road along the Oakway Golf <br />Course, owned by Mr. Ralph Hope, to be used for right-~f-way purposes <br />at $3,941.61 (approximately .67 acres). ~ddition of a'fence as dis- <br />cussed with the owner would ~ring the total c~st to $.4,667. ,Mr. Hope <br />had offered to sell the piece of 'land required for ~ight:of-way for <br />$5,025, or $358 more than the appraisal, The staff recommended pur- <br />chase .of the property for $5,025. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt that the 20-foot strip be purchased for $5,025. <br />Rollcall vote. All councilmen present voting ,aye" motion carried. <br /> <br />7 <br /> <br />19~ Housing Code Board of Appeals - The fotlowing members of the Building <br />Code Board of Appeqls were named by ,Mayor Cone as members of the <br />'Hous'ing Code Board -of Appeals: Messrs. Sam Morris, Thomas A. Balzhiser, <br />AltonLenha~t, ,Owen Perkins, and Dr. Ralph Christenson, <br /> <br />I <br />II <br />~ <br />L <br />Ii <br />I: <br />j <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />8 <br /> <br />20.- Po~ulation -The City Manager announced the Ore~on State Board of' <br />Census had certified Eugene's pqpulatio~ as of April 10, 1964 as <br />67,109. <br /> <br />9 <br /> <br />21.
