<br />~ <br />u <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />4/27/64 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager read a letter from Mr. ~at Flynn, president of the ~ugene Firefighters Association, <br />stating they are interested iQ obtaining the ladder truck now based at th~ Airport, to maintain it in <br />running order, and, in co-operation with the Lane County Museum, to provide a place for storing the <br />apparatus. Since the Lane County Museum is also interested in obtaining the equipment, Mr. Swanson <br />moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to refer. the i.tem to the staff for a recommendation. Motion carr:ied. <br /> <br />1 10. Stop Signs, 37th and Donald - The City Manager and the Public Works Department had <br />received several Qbjections to the previously-authorized removal of stop signs lo- <br />cated at the intersection of 37th Avenue and Donald Street. The Traffic Engineer stated <br />that a traffic count is being taken at the corner, and Mr. Christensen moved seconded <br />by Mr. Crakes to withhold removal of. these stop signs pending.a report from the Traffic <br />Engineer. Motion carried. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />11. Emerald National Bank, Depository - A request had been received from the Emerald <br />National Bank for consideration as a legal depository for City of Eugene funds, stating the <br />Bank is now in a position to pledge U. S. Government bonds to cover any deposits which the <br />City may make. Mr. Christensen moved seconded by Mr. Deverell to approve the Emerald <br />National Bank as a depository for City of Eugene funds according to the laws of the <br />State of Oregon. Motion carried. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved sec.onded by Mr. Chatt that Items 10 and 11 of the .Committee. report be approved. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />12. Rodeo Association, Street Cleaner and Flusher - The Rodeo Association requested the <br />use of a City sprinkler and street cleaning equipment at the rodeo grounds during <br />rodeo week. Mr. Christensen moved seconded by Mr. Crakes to approve the loan of. <br />the equipment providing a recQrd is kept so the City will know the cost of the opera- <br />tion. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Crakes to allow the loan of the equipment to the Rodeo Association pro- <br />viding the Rodeo Association pays for the operators' time and cost of water used. Motion ca~ried. <br /> <br />4 13. Paving Leigh from north boundary 2nd Addition Randall Subdivision to existing paving <br />on Leigh (approximately 180 feet south) - A petition was receiv~d ~or this improye- <br />ment.signed by owners of 100% of the abutting properties. Mr. Deverell moved seconded <br />by Mr. Crakes to approve the petition. Motion carried. <br /> <br />5 14. Paving and sewers in Whitwood Addition - The petition carried the signatures of <br />owners of 100% of the properties to be assessed. Dr. Purdy moved seconded by <br />Mr. Deverell to approve the petition.for paving and sanitary sewers. . Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />6 15. Paving Calvin Street from Elwing Street to south in 1st Addition to Mountain Vista - <br />This petition for paving carried~gnatures of owners of 100% of abutting properties <br />to be assessed. Mr. Deverell moved seconded by Mr~ Crakes to approve the petition. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />7 <br /> <br />16. Paving and sewers in replat of Lots 6 and 7, Block 6, Sunny Hollow This petition <br />for paving and sanitary sewers carried signatures of owners of 78.8% of properties <br />to.be assessed, but would require a 6-foot easement for construction purposes. It <br />was recommended that the owner should furnish a temporary construction easement. <br />Mr. Christensen moved seconded by Mr. Crakes to approve. the petition for paving <br />and sanitary sewers providing a temporary construction easement is obtained. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />8 <br /> <br />17. Segregation of Assessment, 40th & Hilyard, Carlton - Mr. Bill Carlton requested <br />segregation of assessment against property at the northwest corner of 40th and <br />Hilyard, for paving and sewers on 40th from Willamette to Hilyard and paving Hilyard. <br />The total assessment is $1,610.77, and Mr. Carlton desires to make two parcels - <br />one 70'x819.35' with an assessment of $587.03, and one 108.7'x89.35' with an assess- <br />ment of $1,023.74. Mr. Christensen moved seconded by Dr. Purdy to approve the <br />segregation request. Motion carried.1I <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt that Items 13 through 17 of the Committee report be approved. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />Committee meeting held April 23, 1964: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />"Present: Mayor Cone; Councilmen Chatt, Swanson, Christensen, Deverell, Crakes, Hawk, <br />and Purdy; City Manager; Assistant City Manager; City Attorney; City Recorder; <br />Director of Public Works; and others. <br /> <br />9 <br /> <br />1. Double Wall Construction ~ The Superintendent of Building Inspection submitted copies <br />of the Building Code sections pertinent to the double wall construction topic, point- <br />ing out the sections which would be amended or deleted, and a letter of recommendati9n <br />was also submitted in which it was pointed. out that Sections 2507.and 1707 would seem <br />to be adequate to obtain a weathertight building and to prevent deterioration. The <br />Superintendent of Building Inspection recommended that the amendments be made to the <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />II <br /> <br />L. <br />
