Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by <br />Mr. Swanson to approve the petition for paving and sewers as requested. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />9. Curb Sidewalk on 20th between Adams and Monroe (location only) ~ The <br />Public Works Department recommended that rather than have a possible <br />meandering sidewalk, they would recommend the' location of the sidewalk <br />at the' curb be allowed 'for the remainder of the block. Mr. Christensen <br />moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris to approve the location of the sidewalk <br />at the curb. Motion carried. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />10. Variance Extension. 12th and Patterson. Consonant. Inc. - Dr. Charles F. <br />Williams, acting for Consonant, Inc~, re~~ested an extension of the <br />variance granted to Consonant, Inc., on November '26;. :1963, and':explring <br />Ma!f26, ..>1964;'. Mr. Christensen moved seconded by Mr. Hawk to refer this <br />item back to the Planning Commiss~on. Motion carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt' to approve Items 1 through 10 of the Committee <br />report. Motion carried. <br /> <br />3 I <br /> <br />11. Property Transfer. North Grand between Sycamore and Lewis. Campbell <br />(EWEB) - The Eugene Water & Electric Board requested approval of a <br />deed conveying title to Lot 32, Foster Addition, to Emma M. Campbell, <br />stating only 30 feet of the 50-foot lot woul~ be needed for the ease- <br />ment right-of-way and could be provided by a restrictive easement. <br />Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Crakes to approve the requested transfer <br />of tital. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to approve Item 11 of the Committee report. <br />Rollcall vote. All councilmen present voting aye, motion carried. <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />12. Nomination for Election to City Office - The City Manager read a memorandum <br />from the City Attorney stating that petitions for. nomination for City of- <br />fice for the November 1964 election would have to be filed with the City <br />Recorqer not later than August 21, 1964. <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br />t3. Planning Commission Report - May 11. 1964 <br />a. Rezone to C-3P and R-3G area Chambers north of 17th, Mehling/Cedar <br />Lane (64-033) - The Planning Commission recommended denial of the <br />requested rezoning to C-3P on the south 150 feet along 17th Avenue, <br />and the balance of the area to R-3G on the west side of Chambers <br />Street. Mr. Christensen moved seconded by Mr. Hawk to uphold the <br />Planning Commission recommendation and deny the requested rezoning. <br />Mot'ion carried." <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt that Items 12 and 13 of' the Committee report <br />be approved. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Committee meeting hetd June 4, 1964" <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />"Present: Councilmen Lauris (presiding), Chatt, Swanson, Christensen, Deverell, <br />Crakes, Hawk, and Purdy; Assistant City Manager; City Attorney; <br />Director of Public Works; Traffic Engineer; Administrative Assistant; <br />and others. <br /> <br />6 <br /> <br />1. Variance. 12th & Patterson. Consonant. Inc.- The Assistant ~ity Manager <br />pointed out that this item had been referred by the Council to the Plan- <br />ning Commission with regard to a 6-months extension from May 26, 1964. <br />But that Dr. Hoover'wanted a'hearlng before the Council before the Plan- <br />ning Commission hearing. Dr. Hoover said that the project is now about <br />two months from construction, and that a parking tower is no longer planned. <br />Consonant, Inc., has purchased or has an option for the purchase of ad.di- ' <br />tional property so that 145 cars can be parked on the ground level which <br />Dr. Hoover said would be adequate for two years. Dr. Hoover asked that <br />the variance previously granted be extended. He pointed out that the <br />building contains about 40,000 sq. ft. of space. Mr. Chatt moved seconded <br />by Dr. Purdy to refer the item to the Planning Commission Monday, June 8, <br />noon meeting, and indicate to the Commission the Council's. approval if <br />C-3P parking standards are met.
