<br /> the proposed location of the sewer line, were now given" an explana-
<br /> tion by the City Manager and Director of Public Works regarding
<br /> alternate proposals" and: costs for either placing the entire line in
<br /> the street or making adjustment for trees and plantings in order to
<br /> install the line off the street. It was under~tood that the total
<br /> contract'price to install the line entirely in'the street' would be
<br /> $117,300, or an approximate cost of $9.28 per zone foot. Mr.Christen-
<br /> sen moved seconded by Mr. Crakes to adjust the contract and install the
<br /> sanitary sewer line- entirely in the street. Motion carried.

<br /> equipment bids, the Assis:tant City Man:ager, Vern Langford, and the archi-
<br /> :tect had conferred with a vi.ew to. reduc,ing the total amount of the bid
<br /> inasmuch as: the :original low bid was more than the total amount;.. of'
<br /> money available to spend on the proJecL -It was' determined. that ill I
<br /> order to have a first-class facility at the 'Airport and in keeping
<br /> with the furnishings and interior of the terminal building, the City,
<br /> would need'" to spend approximately'- $56,:242, as their share of the ex-

<br /> 2 6. Purchase EWEB property. 2nd & High. Housing Authority Community Facility-
<br /> A,letter was read from the Executive Director of the Lane County Housing
<br /> Authority stating the Housing Authority proposes to build a recreation
<br /> and community facility for the low-cost housing project and that the,
<br /> most desirable location for th~s facility would be on EWEB 'propert'y' at
<br /> 2nd and High. The Housing Authority, woul~ turn over the f?-cility to
<br /> th:e City for operation and staffing by the City of Eugene, providing
<br /> the Counci1 enters into a' co-operation agreement wi,th the Housing
<br /> Authority to: operate a'nC! ma:intain the facility :Eor40, y'ears. The
<br /> Eugene Water & Electric Board haC! agreed 'on a selling pric~ for the
<br /> property, and it was proposed by the Pa~ks & Recreation Department of
<br /> 'the City that the C'elest'e Campbell Center woul'd be moved to this prop- -
<br /> . erty,and adjacent to the structure proposed by the Housing Authority I
<br /> for low-cost housing,' ana the' entire facility would be operated as one
<br /> unit for the benefit of the citizens of Eugene and for the benefit 0:E

<br /> the City of Eugene enter into such an agreemen~ and also to purchase
<br /> , the property from' EWEB, and it was reco~ended ,the staff presen.t an

<br /> posed that the City of Eugene not buy a snorkel for the'Fire Department
<br /> at this time. However, the equipment in the Bethel-Danebo fire depart-
<br /> mentwould need reconditioning~ and it was proposed to discard one
<br /> truck and purchase a new truck to" replac:e it. With' the balance' of the
<br /> money which had been allowed in the budg.et for purcha~,e pi equipment,
<br /> an additionai amount ,for, equipment could' be added, to the following.
