Mr. Swanson moved <br />seco,nded by Mr.. Hawk that a letter he written to the Traffic Safety Com- <br />mitt'ee indicating this information. 'Mo'tion carried. <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to approve Item 6 of the Committee report. <br />Motion carried. ~ <br /> <br />1 7, Coburg Road Right-of-Way - The Department of Public Works recomme~ded <br />that'a strip of property belonging to the Guard Publishi~g Compa~y at <br />1600 Coburg R6~d be purchas~d fo~ $2~40' to allow widenin~ of the stteet. <br />~ - . , l . <br />Also, that a settlement be made with Frank C. Stuart and Nellie Dilley <br />on tre strip of property at 970 Coburg Road for $425 instead. of the <br />$320' indicated in authorization' for court' proceedings. Mr. Swanson I <br />moved seconded ,by Mr.. Chatt to' approve the reco~endation on poth prop- <br />erties. The Assistant City Manager- explained that the City Code allows such <br />signs if they advertise events of benefit to the'general public, and <br />that it is becoming increasingly difficult to. determine benefits derived <br />from various organizations asking for suchbanne~s. :He asked the Cou~~il <br />for some.assistance ,on policy'in determining when ~t~eet banners should <br />be allowed,'with consideration given to the possibility of prohi~iting <br />them ~ntirely. ,Mr. Hawk moved. seconded by:Mr. Crakes to:a~k ~he MaY9r's <br />, sign c9mmittee for a recom~endation on this it~m. Sewer Relocation, 'Eastwood Lane - -Owners .'of property on,Eas~wood Lane I <br />petitioned the Council for relocation of a sewer now under construction <br />on Eastwood Lane'to a point 10 feet o~f ~nd parallelto't~e ~outh margin <br />of the street.' Under the contract, the sewer is located 20 feet:off <br />and parallel to.the south margin of.the ,street. The,Public.Works Depart- <br />,men!; reported'that it would be an added'~xI?en~e for th~ contractor at <br />'this time to qelay sewer construction ,in order to make the change in loca- <br />tion, and .rec6n:unended .that the sewer be,~constru~ted in ~he lC?cation as de- <br />signed. Mr'. ~wa~son moved seconde'd by Mr'. Chat~ to uphold the Public .. <br />Works Department recommendation. Motion carried.. ,., <br /> <br />4 10. Park Animals - Councilman Crakes asked ,the Assistant City Manager if a . <br />report could be given concerning the 'care and treatment of animals in <br />the City's parks, referring to a letter to the edi"tor in the Regist"er- <br />Guard which c~ted unsanitary conditions in the main~ena~ce of quarters. <br />for the p"ark anim~ls. .
