<br />26~ <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />3/8/65 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Dr. Purdy that Items 17 through 21 of the Committee re- <br />port be received and placed on file. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />Planning Commission Report - February 8. 1965 (Addendum) <br />1. Variance from R-3G to allow 4-plex with studio units at 235 East 2nd. Johnson <br />(65-004) - This item had been referred back to' the Planning Commission pend- <br />ing agreement on paving the alley abutting the property on which the variance <br />is requested. An agreement having been reached with Mr. Johnson concerning <br />the type of alley paving, the Planning Commission now recommends granting the <br />variance with permission being granted the petitioner to lay a temporary <br />strip of asphalt on the alley. . <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Anderson to grant the variance as recommended. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />A question was asked from the audience about certification of petitions which had <br />been presented to the city recorder concerning addition of fluoride to the City's <br />water supply. The city recorder stated that the petition calling for withholding <br />of fluorides from the water system had more than the required number of certified <br />signatures of legal voters, but that the petition which would authorize the City <br />to dispense free fluorides to those asking for it had only about 2800 signatures <br />and that the total number required to place the issue on the ballot is 3552. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />At the close of the discussion which followed, Mayor Cone stated that the Council <br />would consider a special election after further study of the matter. No action <br />was taken. <br /> <br />ORDINANCES <br /> <br />3 Council Bill No. 6965 - Levying assessments for paving 15th Avenue from Tyler Street to Lane <br />County Fairgrounds, submitted and read in full on February 24, 1965 and held over for proper notice <br />of assessment to be given owners of affected property, was brought back for consideration with no <br />written protests on file. <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Dr. Purdy that the bill be read the second time by council bill number <br />only, with unanimous consent of the Council. Motion carried unanimously and the bill was read the <br />second time by council bill number only. <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Dr. Purdy that the bill be read the'third time by council bill number <br />only, with unanimous consent of the Council. Motioncarried unanimously and the bill was read the <br />third time by council bill number only. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Dr. Purdy that the bill be approved and given final passage. Rollcall <br />vote. All councilmen present voting aye, the bill was declared passed and numbered 13801. <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />Council Bill No. 6966 - Levying assessments for paving 25th Avenue from Hilyard Street to <br />University Street, submitted and read the first time in full on February 24, 1965 and held over for <br />proper notice of assessment to be given owners of affected property, was brought back for considera- <br />tion with no written protests on file. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Dr. Purdy that the bill be read the second time by council bill number <br />only, with unanimous consent of the Council. Motion carried unanimously and the bill was read the <br />second time by council bill number only. <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Dr. Pur9Y that the bill be read the third time by council bill number <br />only, with unanimous consent of the Council. Motion carried unanimously and the bill was read the <br />third time by council bill number only. <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Dr. Purdy that the bill be approved and given final passage. All councilmen present voting aye, the bill was declared passed and numbered 13802. <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br />Council Bill No. 6967 - Levying assessments for paving 39th Avenue from Donald Street to Ferry <br />Street, submitted and read the first time in full on February 24, 1965 and held over for proper notice <br />of assessment to be given owners of affected property, was brought back for consideration with no <br />written protests on file. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Dr. Purdy 'that the bill be read the second time by council bill number <br />only, with unanimous consent of the Council. Motion carried unanimously and the bill was read the <br />second time by council bill number only. <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Dr. Purdy that the bill be read the third time by council bill number <br />only, with unanimous consent of the Council.
