Golf Course, Airport - A group of Portland businessmen had proposed construction of <br />a golf course south and' west of Mah10n Sweet Field, utilizing a portion of airport <br />property. Included in the proposal were estimated revenues to the City, and after <br />about 40 years the City would own the golf course. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. ,Crakes that the staff be authorized to pursue the proposal. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />10. School Safety Patrol - A complete report was submitted on the school crossing at 30th <br />and Potter by the Police Department supplemented by'a memo from the Police Chief. The <br />r~port was the result of an investigation initiated by the possible abandonment of <br />schoo1safety'patro1 by District ,4. <br /> <br />No action was taken. <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />11. Paving Repair Policy - Copies: of proposed statement of policy on paving repair after <br />sewer installation had been previously distriputed to Counci1..members (dated.,March~ 28,' <br />1966 and filed. and available with City Recorder.; City Manager" and, Pub1,ic WorkS Department). <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />,,' <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to approve the paving repair policy as proposed. ' Motion carried. <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />12. League of Oregon Cities, Regional Meeting) - A letter addressed to Mayor Cone was read <br />from Don Jones, executive secretary of the League of Oregon Cities. It asked ~ugene <br />to host the League regional meeting and asked confirmation of May 4,- 1966'as the date. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Council approved Wednesday, May 4, 1966, 6:30 p.m., in Eugene for the League regional meeting, <br />and asked th~ staff to proceed ~ith arrangements. <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br />13. Parking Prohibition, intersections on 18th and 19th from Agate to Hilyard, and Oak <br />at 16th';' The Public Works -Department recommended prohibition of parking on the 'east <br />side DE Oak'Str~et for 50 feet south of 16th, and for 50 fee~ at all intersections <br />of 18th and 19th Avenues where not now prohibited between Hilyard and Agate Streets. <br /> <br />Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to approve the recommendation.' Motion carried. <br /> <br />6 <br /> <br />14. Parking Restriction, Madison south of 6th, One O'Clock Market - Based on a request for <br />restricted parking on Madison Street south of 6th, the Public Works Department <br />recommended that three spaces on the east side of Madison and four spaces on 'the west <br />side of Madismn immediately south of 6th Avenue be designated for 1-hour parking.. <br /> <br />. ' <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Crakes to'approve the recommendation. 'Motion carried. <br /> <br />7 <br /> <br />:15. Curb, Cut, Hilyard between 24th and 25th, <br />length curb cut at 2475 Hilyard Street. <br />the cut be 1imited.to 30 feet: <br /> <br />Garden Shop - C1if Cu1p requested an over- <br />The Public Works Departm~nt recommended <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt'-moved seconded by Mrs.' Lauris to permit the 30-foot curb cut. Motion carried. <br /> <br />8 <br /> <br />16. Aviation Act, Proposed Amendment - The City Manager explained a proposed biUto go <br />before Congress ~6ncerning release of schedule by a trunk air ~ine and the acquisit~on <br />of the schedule by ~ local air line serving the same airports upon filing with the <br />'CAB. ' " " <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to oppose the proposed legislation. Motion carried. <br /> <br />9 <br /> <br />17. Paving Madison, 30th to 31st - The Public Works Department recommended paving Madison <br />only to 30th, instead of to 31st as previously recommended, because property on the <br />west side of Madison south of 30th is outside the City. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to approve paving Madison to' 30th. Motion carried. <br /> <br />10 - 18. Eugene Development Agency - A letter was read from Wallace Swanson, vice chairman of <br />the Eugene Development Agency, commending E. -R. Asmus and John Porter for "the fi ne <br />work done in presentation of the application for Survey and Planning for the Central <br />Eugene Project, and its presentation at the Housing and Urban Development re~iona1 <br />office in San Francisco. <br /> <br />1~ 19. Police Department Commendation - A letter was read from Maurie Jacobs commending <br />the Police Department and Officer Reece Radabaugh on the handling' of the situation <br />initiated by Mr. Jacobs. <br /> <br />No action was taken on Items 18 and 19. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />12 20. Voters Pamphlet , May 24, 1966 Primary - The City'Manager asked the City Council if <br />'theY wished to publish a voters pamphlet. in conjunction with the Eugene Water & <br />Electric Board on the Parks bond measure and'EWEB's revenue-bond authorization <br />which would be before the voters at the primary election, May 24,'1966. <br /> <br />Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. McNutt to issue a voters pamphlet and to contact Eugene Water & <br />Electric Board with a view to paying 50% of the cost of the voters pamphlet.
