All of the above cost figures are estimates. <br />The three proposals would eliminate some of the trees on the north and south sides. <br />The Public Works Department recommended initiation of Proposal C, and that the <br />Parks Department develop a street tree program for replacing those trees which <br />would need to be removed. The Council had viewed the proposed improvement, and <br />after further discussion Mr. McNutt moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to refer Proposal C <br />to the Planning Commission for a recommendation. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Hawk moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris to approve Item 1 of th e Committee report. Motion carried. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />2. Planning Commission Report - March 1, 1966 <br />a. Rezoning to C-3P south side of 13th between Hilyard and Alder, Merrill (65-057)- <br />The Planning Commission recommended approval of rezoning this area from R-4 <br />Multiple Family. Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. McNutt to rezone the area. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />b. Rezoning to C-3P northwest corner 28th and Oak, Planning Commission (66-012) - <br />The Planning Commission recommended approval of rezoning of this area from R-l <br />Single Family Residential. Mr.McNutt moved seconded by Mr. Anderson to rezone <br />the area. ,Motion carried. <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />c. Amend Zoning Ordinance Interior Yard Requirements - The Planning Commission <br />recommended amending the Comprehensive Zoning Plan to reduce interior yard <br />requirements in all residential districts. Mr. Lassen moved seconded by <br />Dr. Purdy to approve the amendment. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Hawk moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris to approve Items 2a, 2b, and 2c of the Committee report. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />d. Rezoning to M-2 area at 265 Bethel Drive and 2257 and 2273 Roosevelt Boulevard, <br />Bartzat (65-034) - The Planning Commission recommended denial of this request <br />to change the zone from R-3G Garden Apartment District. Mr. Crakes moved <br />seconded by Dr. Purdy to deny the rezoning. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Hawk moved seconded by Mr. Crakes to approve Item 2d of the Committee report. Motion carried. <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br />e. Rezoning to M-3 area between Bethel Drive and SP Railroad, Eugene Mission (65-121)- <br />The Planning Commission postponed this requested rezoning from R-3G Garden <br />Apartment District at the requestof the petitioner. Mr. McNutt moved seconded <br />by Mr. Crakes to concur in the request.' Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Hawk moved seconded. by Mrs. Lauris to approve Item 2e of the Committee report. Motion carried'. <br /> <br />6 <br /> <br />3. Vacation alley between Olive and Charnelton north from 14th, Methodist Church - <br />The Public Works Department recommended a valuation of 85~ per square foot be <br />placed on that portion of the alley vacated at the request of the Methodist Church, <br />or a total value of $700.58 including paving assessment. Dr. Purdy moved seconded <br />by Mr. Anderson that the value of the alley proposed for vacation be placed at <br />$700.58. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Hawk moved seconded by Dr. Purdy to approve Item 3 of the Committee report. Rollcall vote. All <br />councilmen present voting aye, motion carried. <br /> <br />7 <br /> <br />4. Sorrel Way Extension - The Public Works Department recommended improvement of Sorrel <br />Way from Vernal Street to Coburg Road with the installation of a'traffic light, when <br />the improvement is completed, at Sorrel Way and Coburg Road. Dr. Purdy moved <br />seconded by Mr. Crakes to approve the recommendation. Motion carried. <br /> <br />8 <br /> <br />5. Paving Street from Fairmount to 2093 Fairmount, Krenk - This improvement was re- <br />quested by Marvin A. Krenk and after discussion by the Council Dr. Purdy moved <br />seconded by Mr. McNutt to proceed with the improvement. Motion carried. <br /> <br />9 <br /> <br />6. Waiver of Bidding, Sanitary Sewer between 1st and 2nd from Lawrence to Lincoln - <br />Owners of property which would be assessed for this sewer had signed waiver of <br />bidding procedure. Mr. Lassen moved seconded by Dr. Purdy to grant the requested <br />waiver. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Hawk moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris to approve Items 4, 5 and 6 of the Committee report. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />7. Correspondence <br />a. A letter of commendation and appreciation was read from William L. Trout, police <br />chief of Springfield, addressed to Chief Ellsworth of the Eugene Police' Depart- <br />ment for the-Eugene Department's participation in the incident in Springfield, <br />March 24, 1966. <br /> <br />b. A letter was read from Robert M. Beil, 1485 Flintridge, approving the action of <br />the City Council with regard to the drainage ditch in the Willakenzie area." <br /> <br />Mr. Hawk moved seconded by Mr. Crakes to receive and file Items 7a and 7b of the Committee report. <br /> <br />, Mot ion carried. <br /> <br />4/11/66 - 5 IL.. <br />
