Motion carried. <br /> <br />10. Taxi Fares - A letter from. Porter, Bach and'Dwyer, attorneys, on behalf <br />of ~erminal Taxi Service, was read. The letter requested that Council <br />give consideration to ammending the ordinance covering taxicab rates in <br />the City. The present rates are $.50 for first ~-mile and $.10 for each <br />additional \-mile. Termin~l raxiService.requests the rate be modified <br />to $.50 for the first 2/5ths mile and $.10 for each additional 1/5th <br />mile. The Council decided to hold this item over to Monday, May 9, <br />1966 meeting. . , <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to approve Item 10 of the Committee report. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />7 <br /> <br />11. Paving and Water, Shasta Loop - The Public Works D~partment recommended <br />the City attempt to secure right-of-way for North Shasta Loop according <br />to a map presented by the Department. ,The realignment recommended by <br />the Public Works Department would start at the termination of Agate <br />Stre~t and was not in concurrence with that recommended by the County. <br />The Publi~ Works Department also recommended the City improve that portion <br />of North Shasta Loop with the City limit~ that is not involved in the re- <br />alignment. Mr. W. J. Mason, a property owner to the south of the street <br />in question,. stated that his property had been annexed to the City previ- <br />cously at a time when he was not aware or the annexation, that he could <br />not reach his property through City streets, and that he doubted seri- <br />ously if a fire truck could gain entrance if they were needed. He <br />further state~ that sinc~ he is now paying City property taxes h~ would <br />like to have positive action from the Council with regard to correcting <br />c the problem of North Shasta Loop sp that he might gain access to his <br />property. Mrs. ~auris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt that the City pro- <br />ceed with the Public Works Department recommendation and continue to <br />attempt to obtain right-or-way for realignment of North Shasta Loop <br />starting at the termination of Agate Street.. Motion carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />8 <br /> <br />12. Amend Building Code, Hospitals - An ordinance was read to the Council <br />which would amend the City's building code to agree with State Fire <br />Marshal requirements. The Eugene building code ~ould be amended by <br />adding provisions to Section 3801 or the Uniform Building Code, 1964 <br />Edition, dealing with regulations pert~ining to new construction or. <br />additions ~o institutional or Group D occupanci~s (hospitals). ;his <br />amendment would permit exempt status for the City by the State Fire <br />Marshal's office. ~t was explained to the Council that even though <br />the.se sections are not: now in the City's building code, anyconsOtruction <br />of this type would still have to comply with State requirements.
