The City Manager explained this item,would automatically be placed on the agenda of the next joint Planning Commission~City Council meeting. 1 10. Oversize Curb Cut. 515 Conger. King Charles -The Eugene Industrial Development Corpora- tion on behalf of KlngCharles, Inc., requested, a l20-foot curb cut to facilitate equip- ment movement at 515 Conger Street. The Public Works Department recommended.denial. Mr. Lassen moved seconded by Mr. Crakes to deny the request.- Motion carried. 2 11. Improvement Petitions, reco!llffiE?ndedfor approval by the Public Works Department: a. Paving Tandy T~rn from Coburg Ro~d to Firw~od Way - 47% b. Paving SorEe1:Way from Coburg Road to Vernal Street - 77% c. Paving, 'sanitary and storm sewers in 1st Addition Brunner Park - 100% ~ d. Paving and sanitary sewer in Orchard Terrace Addition - 73% .., e. Sanitary sewer in Point Thomas Addition - 100% f. Paving in Elm Park (34th and Wiilamette) - 100%. And sanitary sewers. The, Public Works Department recommended approval of the, Elm Park paving subject to dedication of a I-foot' freeze strip on.'the nor~h boundary of the project. Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Dr. Purdy to approve the petitious as recommended. I Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Crakes to.approve Items '10 and 11 of the Committee report. Motion carried. 3 l2.('Cal Young Right-of-Way -The Public Works Department recommended purchase of right-of- way for widening Cal Young Road at 2153 Cal Young from Calude Hebert' for $300. Mr.Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Crakes to approve the purc~ase. Motion carried. 4 13. Dyco. Inc.. vs.City of. Eugene. Patent Case - The City Attorney recommended settlement of the suit for, $400 brought by Dyeo; Inc., involving the City's use of a design for picnic .table patented by a former City employee. Mr.. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Crakes to settle for $400. Motion carried. . Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr~ Crakes to approve Items 12 and 13 of the Committee report: Rollcall vote. All councilmen present.voting aye, motion carried. 5 14. Commendation Police Department - A_letter was read from O. E. ~ingzett, 2021 Floral Hill Drive, expressing praise for the City's police department and its performance in handling juveniles. 6 15. Widening 6th and 7th Avenues - A letter was read from Louise Smith, 2610 Oiive Street, congratulatfhg the City.Council on dividing 6th and 7th. Avenues into three traffic lanes. 7 16. National League of Cities Meeting. December ~~7. 1966 - Announcement was made of the I annual convention of the National League of Cities to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 2-7, 1966. " 8 17. Biennial Conference of NAHRO - Announcement was made of the biennial conference of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials at the Eugene Hotel on September 14-16, 1966. 9 18. Tight Money Conference -Announcement was made of the' conference on the Impact of ~ Tight Money, presented by the Division of Continuing Educa~ion, at the University of Oregon on September 8, 1966. 10 19. 1~% Property Tax Limitation - Copies of the legal opinion of the Attorney General wer~ d~s):ribute<:l to.Gqunc:i1 members, this with regard to the l~% property tax limitatio n measure. 11 20. Nominating Petition. Clyde DeBerry - Copies".of the City Attorney's opinion were dis- : tributed to Council members ruling that Mr. DeBerry's petition as a candidate for the City Council could not be certified by the City Recorder until and unless the County Clerk certified 25 legally valid signatures." , Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Crakes that Items 14 through 20 of the Committee rep~rt be received ,and filed.
