Donald at 37th - The Public Works Department recommended. removal of the <br />stop signs for traffic on Donald Street at 37th Avenue and installation of a yield <br />sign on 37th. Jim Bernhard, 3755 Donald Street, said he felt the stop s'ign at its <br />present location ,is necessary because of the brow of the hill at' 37th, and because <br />Donald would tend to become an arteria12type street were it not for the 'stop sign <br />to stow traffic. Mrs.' L'auris moved seconded by Mrs. H"ayward to leave the stop signs <br />on Do:nald. Motion carried, Mr. McNutt voting no. It was understood a ,check of the <br />accident record of: that intersection would be made 'and a report brought back to the <br />Council. ". <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />A report on the accident record at this intersection revealed one in 1957. At the suggestion that a <br />three-way stop be established,' the Traff'ic Engineer said experience has shown a three-way stop would <br />probably cause more violations because of drivers on Donald Street knowing the side street (37th) was <br />contro lled. <br /> <br />Dr. Purdy move~ s'econd~d by Mr. Anderson to leave the stop signs on Donald Street as they row are. <br />Motion carried, Messrs. Boulevard (Pt.'Thomas Subdivision) - Petitioned by owners of 74% <br />of the property' to be assessed. The subdivider requested delay "of paving' Arline Way <br />until next seaso'n, and the Public :Works Department recommended approval. <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br />2. Paving and Sewers. Southwest Hills Addition-Petitioned by owners of 87% of property <br />to be assessed. C. and Mary Christensen and Elmer P. and Hazel <br />Harlow, 2851 Harlow Road, for $565; and from Wilburn C. and Eva Reynolds and Victor <br />and Ethel Stewart, 2825 Harlow Road, for $600. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Anderson to purchase the property. All councilmen <br />present voting aye, motion carried. <br /> <br />7 <br /> <br />4. 18th Avenue Right-of:-Way.- Option was preserited for purchase of property t6.improve <br />the intersection at 18th Avenue arid Hawkins Heights Boulevard from Hannah E. Hawkins <br />for $300. <br /> <br />Dr. Purdy moved' seconded by Mr. Anderson to purchase the pro~rty. Rollcall vote. All councilmen <br />present voting aye, motion carried. <br /> <br />Counc~lman Lassen asked, about the right-of-way 'and alignment west of Oak Patch Road on 18th Avenue. <br />The Public Works Director reported the problem of location had been resolved, and that individual <br />appraisal would be made before any attempt is made to acquire the property. Mayor Cone inquired <br />about the section.east of City View and was told it is in the process .of being put under contract. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />8 <br /> <br />5. Sewer Line'Relocation.2405 Charnelton - Geraldine T. Leeman requested abandonment of <br />a sewer line running: across her ptoperty:west of Olive Street just south of 24th <br />Avenue. The Public:Works Department reported new sewer lines have been constructed <br />to serve the area except'for one house at.2405 Charnelton Street which.can be served <br />by construction of a relief line estimated to cost $600.
