<br />Commission recommended denial. It was explained the Commission does not want
<br />to extend commercial zoning all along Coburg Road into a strip along the entire
<br />road and that commercial areas should be clustered, Mr. Camarot, representative
<br />for Clair Adkins, stated that because of increased traffic and commercial develop-
<br />ment in the area, the property directly adjacent to Coburg Road is no longer suit-
<br />able for residential development, Mrs. Niven commented that the FHA does not ap-
<br />prove of direct access to residential property from arterial roads, She further
<br />mentioned the possibility of a planned unit development. Vincent Farina, president
<br />of the Eugene Planning Commission, stated the Commission looks at the area as a
<br />whole when considering zoning changes, that enough commercial zoning already
<br />exists to serve the neighborhood and that continuation of "bits andpieces" zoning
<br />is not desirable if the comprehensive zoning plan recently adopted is adhered to.
<br />Dr, Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Anderson to uphold the recommendation of the
<br />Planning Commission. Motion carried, Mrs. Lauris voting no.

<br />Henry Camarot, representing Clair Adkins, requested permission to withdraw the rezoning petition. He
<br />cited the regulation that prohibits re-application for rezoning with six months after denial, explain-
<br />ing there is a possibility his client would want to bring the rezoning petition back within six months,
<br />
<br />Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Anderson to approve withdrawal of the petition. Motion carried.

<br />recommended approval of a request from the Traffic Engineer to prohibit parking
<br />on Willamette Street between 24th and 29th Avenues in order to increase the number
<br />of traffic lanes. Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mrs. Hayward to uphold the Planning
<br />Commission. Motion carried.
