LeShane, 1953 Garden Avenue, local manager <br /> for West Coast Airlines. Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Anderson to conf{rm the <br /> appointments. Motion carried. <br /> 1 10. Appointment. Building-Housing Board of Appeals - Mayor Cone announced the reappointment <br /> of Louis F. Bonson as a menb er of the Building and Housing Code Board of Appeal s for <br /> the term ending January 1, 1972. Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Anderson to confirm <br /> the appointment. Motion carried. <br /> 2 11. Appointment, Eugene Development Agency - Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mrs. Hayward to <br /> appoint Mrs. Richard E. Miller, 195 West 35th Place, as a member of the Eugm e Develop- <br /> ment Agency, replacing Mrs. Ivan Nive'n, resigned. Motion carried. <br /> Considerable discussion took place with regard to legislation whic h will aHow con- <br /> s'titution of the present Eugene Development Agency as the Urban Renewal Agency for <br /> e Eugene and delegation of authority to that body as a separate entity from the Council. <br /> Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris to approve Items 8 through 11 of the Committee report. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> 3 12. Paving Norwood Street - Lowell D. Smit h, owner of Marlow Park Subdivision, requested <br /> paving of half of a portion of Norwood Street between Sally Way and Carmel Avenue during <br /> I this construction season. The Public Works Department reported the request was sub- <br /> mitted well beyond the deadline of January 15, and recommended denial. Public Works <br /> also recommended that other owners of property on Norwood Street from Sally Way to <br /> Carmel Avenue be polled to determine whether the entire street should be paved during <br /> the 1968-69 season. Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to deny the request. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> 4 13. Public Affairs Conference - The City Manager called the Council's attention to the <br /> Community Service 'and Public Affairs summer conference to be held at the University <br /> of Oregon June 15 to 17, 1967." <br /> No action was taken on Items 12 and 13. <br /> Committee meeting held June 8, 1967: <br /> "Present: Mayor Cone; Councilmen McNutt, Anderson, Lassen, Hayward, McDonald and Wingard; <br /> City Manager and staff; and others. <br /> 5 1. Traffic Accidents. Coburg Road - Councilman Anderson asked if a report could be pre- <br /> pared on the incidence of traffic accidents occurring near the north approach to the <br /> bridge on Coburg Road. He was told that t'he traffic department has prepared such a <br /> report and it will 'be brought to the Council. <br /> I 6 2. Metropolitan Service Districts - Councilwoman Hayward called the. Council's attention <br /> to an article in a recent issue of Harper's with regard to the King County Metropolitan <br /> Service District. <br /> Mr. Andersonmoved seconded by Mrs. Lauris that Items 1 and 2 of the Committee report be received and <br /> filed. Motion carried. <br /> 7 3. Liquor License Applications - The following applications for liquor licenses, all for <br /> e change of ownership, were presented as approved by the Police Department: <br /> Retail Malt Beverage Class A <br /> and Package Store Class B - Herb's Tavern, 101 West 7th Avenue <br /> Herbert J. and Helen B. Wirfs (formerly Bruce <br /> and Ann Gannon) <br /> Package Store Class B - Tower Grocery Store,13l3 Lincoln Street <br /> Dean and Carol McAllister (formerly Marvin L. Dow) <br /> Little Y Market, 603 West 19th Avenue - R. G. Crakes <br /> Brought back for consideration was the application of Gustaf F. Myss for Retail Malt <br /> Beverage Class A for the Villa Roma at 458 Co burg Road. Mr. Myss and Bob Curtis, <br /> designer of the proposed building, showed the Council a sketch of floor plans. The <br /> City Manager said there were no objections presented from residents of the area. <br /> I Mr. McNutt moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to recommend approval of the applications. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> The City Manager read a letter addressed by the Oregon Liquor 'Control Commission to <br /> Jerry and Sandra Dillon denying their application for Restaurant A license for Shakey's <br /> Pizza Parlor at 1725 West 11th, but indicating the Commission would have no objections <br /> to granting a Retail Malt Beverage license. Another letter from the Oregon Liquor <br /> Control Commission was read addressed to Fred and Naomi Schulke denying their request <br /> e for Dispenser A liquor license for Schulke's Steak Ranch at 2891 West 11th Avenue. <br /> Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris to approve Item 3 of-the Committee report.
