Ordinance, Amending Fire Prevention Code re: Fireworks - The'Assistant City Attorney <br />said new legislation: enacted..by. the State Legislature .and' awaiting the .Governor' s.. <br />signature would change the definition of "fireworks." Smith petitioned paving half of a portion of <br />Norwood Street in Marlow Park subdivision on which denial .was previously. recom- <br />mended in committee. The City Manager explained that'Mr. Smith had sold the en- <br />tire subdivision to one builder on the condition that this paving would be accom- <br />plished, and that although the petition was late, if the engineering can be com- . <br />pleted, there is no physical reason why the project cannot proceed. The Public' <br />Works Director said the entire width would be paved if pos~ible. Mr. Anderson <br />moved seconded by Mr. McNutt to approve the petition, subject to completion of <br />engineering work for the project. Motion 'carried. <br /> <br />6 7. Stop Signs ~ 23rd and Alder - Because of the continuingr.ate of accidents at this' int.er-' <br />section, the ~ublic Works 'Department recommended installation of stop signs 'controlling <br />the east/west movement on 23rd at Alder'- Mi. .Anderson ,moved sec'onded by.Mr. McNutt to <br />approve the recommendation. Motion carrfed. <br /> <br />7 8. Parking Prohibition, Spring 'Boulevard - The .Public Works Department recommended parking I' <br />prohibition on both sides of Spring Boulevard for 665 feet measured from Fairmount <br />Boulevard, and on the easterly side only of Spring Boulevard from that prohibition to <br />Madrona Drive. Councilman McNutt expressed the opinion that parking should, be pro- <br />hibited on the entire street. Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mrs. Hayward .to .approve <br />the recommendation. And, in order to improve sight distance, that parking be prohibited on.the n~th <br />side of 30th for 50 feet in both directions from the intersections .of portiand and <br />Charnelton. Wheeler requested prohibition of parking <br />in front of 670 and 690 West :lst Avenue because of sight hazard for his clients leaving <br />the off-stre'et parking' area he has provided. The Public- Works Department recommended <br />approval. Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mr.. McNutt to approve the recommendation. <br />Motion carried." ' <br /> <br />10 11.
