Sidewalk Location. south side of 11th in front of West ilth Shopping 'Genter -'McKay Investment Company petitioned the City Council ,to allow curb sidewalks on the south side of 11th Avenue in front of the W~st 11th Shopping Center. Th~Public.Works De- partment recommended granting the petition to allow 7~foot wide sidewalks, 'and to es- tablish the curb location 'from Garfield Street to Seneca Road. Dr. Purdy'moved seconded by Mr s . Hayward ',to approve the recommendation. Motion 'carried. 2 8. Summer Recr~ation Program ~The Parks and Recreation D~rector presenceda portion of a report of the summer recreation program c'onducted 'by theParksDepartment. _ The report will be continued at 'a later meeting." - Mrs. Lauris 1p.oved seconded by Mrs. H&yward to approve' Items 7 and '8 'of the Committee report'. Mazany ~ The Planning Commission recommended 'approval of this annexation subject to an unde~standin:g tl).at the City will not provide 'water or sewer -~ervice to the propertj until economically feasible. Mrs. Lauris moved'seconded by Mrs. Hayward to approve the annexation. Motion carried: , - " " 4 b. Annexation south of .Goodpa~ture Island Road north of Fir Acres Road. Shields - The Planning Commission recommended approval of this annexation'Ewen though sewer serv- ice cannot be pro~ided ~f this time. Sewer service to the area will depend on trunk sewers which will have to be built along the east side of the Delta Highway. Construc~ion of said sewers could be several y'ears away. Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. McNutt to approve the annexation. Motion car'rfed~ 5 2. Appointment. Urban Renewal Agency - Mr . McDonald withdrew his suggestion -at ail earlier' meeting that a City, Council membeib'e appointed 'to this Agency. . Mr~ Anderson suggested that Council members ,snould suggest names to the City Manager. . Mrs,. )Iaywar:d' suggested that the Urban Renewal Agency should be asked for suggestions~ . No action was taken. " 6 3. Coburg Road Ri~ht-of-way: Schaeffer'- The 'City Manager "reported Thelma V. Schaeffer, property at 1308 and 1316 Co burg Road is the final pro'perty 'acquisition for the I Coburg Road widening. 'Condemnation proceedings ~ere$flmedeandfi~ttil~meri~ for $750 was recornrrierided. Mrs. Lauirs moved seconded by Mr. McNutt to ,~pprove the purcha~~ for $750. Rollcall vote. All council-: ment present voting aye, motion carried. I 7 4. Amazon Parkway Right-of-way. Klosterman - The Public Works Department recommended I purcha~e of the L. J. Klosterman property on the south side of West 11th Avenue west I of Wallis Street 'for $850 for 'the p'rojected Amazon Parkway. .right-of-way. e ' ' Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. McNutt to approve the purchase for $850. Property Purchase. 11th at Danebo.State of Oregon - The Superior Lane Company has pro- posed to trade the City of EQgene ,a 20~foot strip of property one-half mile long along the north side of 11th Avenue beyond Darlebo Avenue for a pi~ce of property which the City is abte too purchase from the 'State fbr $5000. contiguo~s to City-owned property" at the northwest corner of '11th 'and Danebo. The' City Manager recommended purchas~ of the State-owned land so t,hat it could 'be added to the 'City-owned p;iece and the ent"ire parcel then sold ,on'~ bid ~rocedure: Mrs. Lauris moved "seco'nded by Mrs: Hayward 'to tell the State 'the City is not irit,erested. Motion de- feated, Mrs. Lauris voting y~s,Mrs. Hayward and ,Messrs: McNutt, A'nderson,and McDonald voting no. . , I Mrs. Hayward expressed reservations concerning the City's purchase of 'land in order to make a profit. The City Manager and Director of Public ~orks at~ted th~ the reason fo~ ac~uiring the property at the present time is to ge't the right-of-way at a rea'sonable price before ,'the land is dev~loped. Mrs. Hayward moved that the City attempt to purchase just the right-of-way from the State. Motion was not seconded. Mr. McDonald moved seconded- by Mr. McNutt to purchase the State property for $5000. Rollcall vote.
