Planning Commission Report - June 4, 1968 <br /> a. Zoning Ordinance Amendments - Copies of the permanent report were distributed to . <br /> Council members, and the Planning Director explained each proposed amendment and <br /> the basis for' the change. He said as experience is gained from working with the . <br /> i' new zoning ordinance, other changes could be forthcoming. Councilman Purdy asked <br /> about the change to Section 18.07(e) having to do with calculation of density for <br /> planned unit developments. The Planning Director said where planned unit develop- <br /> ments include street dedications which are not needed for integral use, then the <br /> street area will be included in calculating density for the development. No acticn <br /> was taken. It was understood further information and sketches on street dedication <br /> in relation to density would be brought to the' June 24 Council meeting. <br /> The Planning Director showed a sketch and explained the use of dedicated street areas in computing <br /> density for planned unit developments (Section 18.07(e)). <br /> !: Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to adopt the zoning ordinance amendments. Motion carried. ~ <br /> i: <br />2 7. Planning Commission Report - June 17, 1968 <br /> ,I a. Variance to Zoning Ordinance, Motel in M-2 zone north of East Broadway at Hilyard - <br /> , <br /> p. C. F. Campbell planned construction of a motel in the M-2 zone west of his ice <br /> plant on East Broadway under the old zoning ordinance, and now finds it is not <br /> i: allowed in that zone under the new zoning ordinance. The Planning Commission recom- <br /> I' mended a variance to allow development of the motel pending consideration of rezoning <br /> I <br /> " the area to C-2, which is to be heard by the Planning Commission on July 2. The <br /> l' Planning Commission's approval indicated that conditions of rezoning would include <br /> I :recommendations on final disposition of the ice plant and total development of the <br /> I, <br /> I property. Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Wingard to approve the variance. Joint Housing Committee Report - The City Manager said a resolution to adopt the <br /> Joint Housing Committee report, copies of which were mailed to Council members <br /> with proposed amendments, would be before the Council for consideration at its <br /> June 24 meeting. Attention was called to the proposed changes, particularly :. <br /> with reference to the number of applications which could be handled under the - <br /> Turnkey Program. <br /> Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to adopt the report: <br /> Mrs. Niven reviewed the changes to the report recommended since its distribution to Council members. <br /> Referring to the Turnkey Program under Item 1 above, she said the Joint Housing Committee felt the <br /> private sector should have an opportunity to meet the recommended housing needs, and if the private <br /> sector has not acted by the Council's October 14 meeting, then the Council could authorize participa- <br /> tion in the Turnkey Program. Councilman Wingard said he was agreeable to his letter from Mr.Alford <br /> with regard to the Turnkey Program being placed on file until October 14, 1968 (see action Item 1 <br /> above) . <br /> A vote was taken on the motion to adopt the Joint Housing report as amended, and motion carried . <br /> unanimously. <br /> I. . <br /> ,. Mrs. Niven asked if the Council would like to have recommendations from the Plan Advisory Committee <br /> I with regard to possible locations for the housing recommended, and was told it would. <br /> Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to keep the Joint Housing Committee in effect in order to <br /> consider further studies as may be necessary and, in particular, those ~nvo1ving land use.
