<br /> I 1. 'Parking Meter Moratorium -- Councilwoman Lauris suggested allowing free parking in
<br /> the downtown area during the Christmas -season as is done inSpringfield. 'In 'dis- ',.
<br /> cussion it was brought out that the meters provide parking turnover which is
<br /> particularly riecessary during the Christmas shopping rush" ,that ,there is not ,suf-
<br /> ficient off-street parking in the Eugene downtown are~ as is 'the case in Springfield,'
<br /> considerable traffic congestion would result if the~meters were not enforced, and
<br /> loss of revenue would be about $15,000 for a period of a month. No further action
<br /> was taken.
<br /> 2 2. Recognition Dinner, Mayor and Councilmen - The Chamber of Commerce suggested a
<br /> committee of the Council work with the Chamber,to arrange a recognition dinne~
<br /> honoring the retiring Mayor and Council members and to welcome the'new Mayor and

<br /> be startedon a new site for their operation~ The permit for.the trailer was
