Traffic Recommendations <br />a. 1 hour parking, southwest corner 11th and Mill - Dr. Purdy asked why a reduction to <br />one hour was necessary'in this particular location. Director of Public Works said <br />a restaurant has opened at this corner, and has requested t~is reduction. <br /> <br />Mrs. Hayward moved seconded by Dr. Purdy to approve the recommendation of the Traffic <br />Engineer. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mrs. Hayward asked the staff to report regarding drafting of a blanket traffic ordin- <br />ance so that the Council may discuss the implications of such an ordinance. <br /> <br />Mrs. Beal moved seconded by Mr. Gribskov that the City Attorney proceed to draft <br />a blanket traffic ordinance to allow the'staff to make traffic revisions, with a <br />memo to the Council concerning such decisions. <br /> <br />Mrs. Hayward moved seconded by Mrs. Beal to approve the, recommendation that the City At'torney <br />draft a blanket traffic ordinance, as outlined in Item 9. Motion carried. <br /> <br />10. Kendall Ford Suit - This item taken at the meeting of ~pril 28, 1969 <br /> <br />11. Introduction, Ward Beck - Mayor Anderson introduced Ward Beck, who is acting as Manager <br />of the Chamber of Commerce, due to the resignation of Fred Brenne. <br /> <br />12. Legislative Luncheons - Mr's.. Hayward asked for Council -repres.entation at the Saturday <br />morning meeting. Air Pollution, Senator Bateson - The Council discussed a request from Senator Bateson <br />to Mayor Anderson regarding pollution caused by industry, motor vehicle emission, out- <br />door burning, etc., on marginal days. In reply, the Council could indicate it has <br />under consideration banning of backyard burning, The Council's position on pollution <br />control should be expressed in terms of the 'positive actions "taken by the City Council <br />in establishing goals, enacting ordinances, initiating a Eugene Air Pollution Authority, <br />etc'. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Mrs. Hayward moved seconded by Mr. McDonald to receive and place on file Items 11, 12 and 13 of <br />the Committee ,report. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mayor Anderson reported that'he and Mrs. Bear had attended a work session of the committee on air <br />and water quality control, the first work session since the hearing. Mrs. Beal explained that the <br />amended version. of S. Items from Mayor and Council <br />a. Equal Opportunity Ordinance - Mr. Charles L. Potterf has requested the City Council to <br />place the Equal Opportunity Ordinance on the Agenda as early as possible 'to permit the <br />public to speak on it. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br /> <br />-.- <br /> <br />- <br />The Mayor said the ordinance is up tto the third reading, and. to hear :L t out of order <br />would require a motion to suspend regular procedures. <br /> <br />Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mrs,.
