2005 Legislative Session IGR Commitee Bill Approval May 23, 2005 <br /> <br /> { - Increases penalty for dog keeper who maintains public nuisance by keeping dog that bites <br /> person. Makes first offense punishable by 30 days' imprisonment, $1,250 fine, or both. Makes <br /> subsequent offense punishable by one year's imprisonment, $6,250 fine, or both. Makes <br /> punishment for maintaining public nuisance by keeping dog that bites person applicable <br /> throughout state, regardless of local law. Increases penalty for dog keeper who maintains <br /> public nuisance by keeping dog that chases or menaces person to maximum $360 fine. - } { - <br /> Requires county animal control agency to establish registry for dog breeders. Requires breeder <br /> of pit bull or pit bull mix dogs to register. Makes failure to register subject to fine not to exceed <br /> $50. Requires county to adopt fees to fund registration program. - } Makes dog keeper strictly <br /> liable for economic damages incurred by person physically injured by dog. Creates exceptions. <br /> { + Defines potentially dangerous dog and dangerous dog. Modifies authority of law <br /> SB 0844A 3 Support/Am enforcement officers, dog control boards, county governments and courts relating to 5/12 <br /> Reactivates property tax exemption for single-unit housing in distressed urban areas. Modifies <br /> definitions. Permits condominiums to be eligible for single-unit housing property tax exemption. <br /> SB 0847 3 Support Takes effect on 91st day following adjournment sine die. 4/07 <br /> Requires that substances added to public water supply for purposes other than to treat water <br /> SB 0851 3 Support to make water safe or potable meet specific safety requirements. 3/24 <br /> Authorizes universities in Oregon University System and Oregon Health and Science <br /> University to establish university venture development funds. Directs State Board of Higher <br /> Education and Oregon Health and Science University Board of Directors to establish grant <br /> program for distribution of grants from funds to facilitate commercialization of university <br /> research and development. Establishes income tax credit for taxpayers that contribute moneys <br /> to university venture development funds. Applies credit to tax years beginning on or after <br /> SB 0853 3 Neutral January 1, 2006. 4/21 <br /> Directs Secretary of State to print disclaimer on candidate and political party statements in <br /> state voters' pamphlet indicating that State of Oregon does not warrant accuracy or truth of <br /> SB 0858 3 Support information contained in candidate or political party statement. 4/28 <br /> Directs Secretary of State { + and county clerks + } to print disclaimer on candidate and <br /> political party statements in state { + or county + } voters' pamphlet indicating that State of <br /> Oregon { - does not warrant accuracy or truth of - } { + or county has not verified for accuracy + <br /> SB 0858A 3 Support } information contained in candidate or political party statement. 4/28 <br /> <br /> 66 <br /> <br /> <br />
