<br />e <br /> <br />CB 2441--An ordinance ordering an election to be conducted by <br />the Lane County Election Department on the 18th day <br />of May, 1982, for the purpose of submitting to the <br />legal electors of the city of Eugene a measure author- <br />rizing $186,667 tax on ownership of real property <br />in Downtown Development District; adopting polling <br />places and providing for all acts necessary for the <br />carrying on of said election; and declaring an <br />emergency. <br /> <br />Ms. Schue moved, seconded by Ms. Smith, that the bill be read the <br />second time by council bill number only, with unanimous consent <br />of the council, and that enactment be considered at this time. <br />Roll call vote; motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Council bill 2441 was read the second time by council bill number only. <br /> <br />Ms. Schue moved, seconded by Ms. Smith, that the bill be approved and <br />given final passage. Roll call vote; all councilors present voting <br />aye, the bill was declared passed and numbered 18942. <br /> <br />IV. AMENDMENT TO SHOPLIFTING ORDINANCE (memo, ordinance distributed) <br /> <br />Mr. Gleason stated that this amendment would remove unconstitutional language. <br /> <br />CB 2442--An ordinance concerning shoplifting and amending Section <br />4.825 of the Eugene Code, 1971. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Ms. Schue moved, seconded by Ms. Smith, that the bill be read the <br />second time by council bill number only, with unanimous consent <br />of the council, and that enactment be considered at this time. <br />Roll call vote; motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Council bill 2442 was read the second time by council bill number only. <br /> <br />Ms. Schue moved, seconded by Ms. Smith, that the bill be approved and <br />given final passage. RESOLUTION re: 911 LETTER OF INTENT (memo, resolution, background <br />information distributed) <br /> <br />Mr. Gleason introduced Dave O~Brien, Police. <br /> <br />Mr. O'Brien stated that they are requesting signing of a letter of intent for <br />eventual participation in the 911 emergency telephone system for Lane County. <br />This action only commits the City to participation in the planning process and <br />allows the City to receive tax moneys when they are distributed by the State of <br />Oregon. The revenues will be distributed beginning in June, and quarterly <br />thereafter. Later revenues will be used for operations, equipment, and <br />installation.
