0 <br /> <br />Pavement Preservation. The City has a $94 million backlog of pavement <br />preservation projects city-wide, on fully-improved streets maintained by the City. <br /> <br />Of this backlog, there are 41 miles of <br />local and neighborhood collector streets <br />in CDBG-eligible areas with an <br />estimated pavement preservation cost <br />of $5.3 million. The pavement <br />preservation projects include slurry <br />seals, pavement overlays, and furl depth <br />reconstruction. Pavement preservation <br />projects can be designed in advance of <br />aflocating construction funds and <br />scoped to match available funding. <br />Therefore, pavement projects can be <br />implemented within the time constraints <br />of the CDBG funding cycle or replace <br />other projects that have encountered <br />delays in implementation. <br /> <br />Ci~ of ~ugene <br /> Block Grant <br /> <br />0 <br /> <br />Streets and Alley Improvements. The City has over 50 miles of unimproved <br />streets. There are approximately ten miles of unimproved local and <br />neighborhood collector streets in CDBG-eligible areas. The estimated cost to <br />bring the unimproved streets up to City standards is $17.5 million. City standards <br />for streets generally includes curbs and gutters, sidewalks on both sides of the <br />street, and engineered street and drainage systems. In addition, there are <br />approximately 17.5 miles of unimproved alleys within CDBG-eligible areas with <br />an estimated cost of $19.4 million to improve the alleys to City standards. City <br />standards for alleys generally include a 14-foot wide concrete alley and drainage <br />system. <br /> <br />0 <br /> <br />Sidewalk Infill Proqram. The City implemented a sidewalk infill pilot program in <br />1994. The program was developed to address missing sections of sidewalk on <br />fully-improved City streets. During the three-year program, 6.3 miles of high <br />priority sidewalks were constructed. In 1997, the City developed a five-year <br />program to construct 23 miles of missing sections of sidewalks on streets within <br />close proximity to schools, parks, commercial nodes, and transit stops. Of the 23 <br />miles of missing sections of sidewalk, 3.6 miles are located in CDBG-eligible <br />areas. The estimated cost to construct the 3.6 miles of missing sidewalk <br />sections is $960,000. <br /> <br />0 <br /> <br />Streets Lights. The City has a priority list of over 1,000 street lights city-wide. <br />There are approximately 150 priority street lights in CDBG-eligible areas. The <br />cost of installation of street lights varies widely. The installation may be as <br />simple as installing a light fixture on an existing utility pole or as complex as <br />extending power to an un-served area, installing underground conduit, and <br />placing a street light pole and fixture. Therefore, cost estimates have not been <br />developed for the list of priority street lights. <br /> <br />o Traffic Calming. The City currently has a list of over 150 requests for traffic <br /> calming projects city-wide, of these, 49 are requests for traffic calming projects in <br /> <br />7] <br /> <br /> <br />
