EUGENE/SPRINGFIELD CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU QUARTERLY REPORT <br /> e (background information distributed) <br /> City Manager Micheal Gleason introduced the agenda item. He introduced Scott <br /> Lieuallen, Executive Vice President of the Convention and Visitors Bureau. <br /> Mr. Lieuallen said City Council policy indicates that convention and visitor <br /> solicitation provides a public benefit and the City contracts with the <br /> Convention and Visitors Bureau for the service. He said the relationship <br /> between the Convention and Visitors Bureau staff and the City staff is <br /> excellent. They are organizing a seminar on the long-term benefits of <br /> tourism to the local economy. <br /> Mr. L;euallen said most members of the bureau staff are neWt but Linda <br /> Weston, the convention sales director, has been on the staff for more than a <br /> year. Mr. lieuallen introduced Dan Brett, a new staff person, who is <br /> organizing receptions for local groups to encourage them to host meetings of <br /> large organizations. <br /> Mr. Lieuallen said the Bureau contracted with an accounting firm and the <br /> financial and membership records of the Bureau are now automated.
