The Eugene Planning Commission recommends changing policy Pk8 (page <br /> 6) to make it clear that the policy is directed at public parking systems. The <br /> implementation strategies were not recommended for change. The revised <br /> policy is as follows: <br /> Pk8. Sa 1 ance the need for free or low cost short-term parking with <br /> transit and a ltenat i ve mode goals in establishing policies for <br /> publicly-owned parking in downtown areas. <br /> 14. The Eugene Planning Commission agreed with the Lahe Cou nty and <br /> Springfield planning commissions that policy AMJ and Imp.&ementation Strategy <br /> "b"should be modified (page 6) and suggested broadening the pol icy to <br /> include other than just the private sector: <br /> AM3. Provide incentives for businesses to subsidize transit fares for <br /> their employees, customers or occupants or provide incentives for <br /> the use of alternative modes. <br /> b. reducing parking requirements for employers that agree to <br /> subsidize employee transit fares or provide incentives for the <br /> use of alternative modes; <br /> 15.
