Canvass of election Results <br /> <br />Mayor Keller read a proclamation indicating the results of the election <br />hel d May 23, 1978. It was as follows: <br /> <br />Total Yes vote for Measure No. 51--22,898 <br /> <br />Total No vote against Measure No. 51--13,427 votes <br /> <br />Council Ward 1--Jim Johnston, 717 <br />Bob Lyford, 1,617 <br />Emily Schue, 2,422 <br /> <br />Council Ward 4--Doug McKay, 1,461 <br />Gretchen Miller, 1,581 <br /> <br />Council Ward 5--D. W. Hamel, 2,280 <br />Liz Heath, 1,631 <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />Council Ward 6--Ted Brandt, 1,064 <br />E r i c Haws, 1 , 515 <br />Harley Spencer, 519 <br /> <br />Eugene Water and Electric Board Wards 4 and 5--John Bartels, 3,518 <br />Thomas Teutsch, 2,745 <br /> <br />Eugene Water and Electric Board-At-Large--Jack Craig, 12,721 <br />Calvin Schmidt, 12,187 <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />The Mayor proclaimed Measure No. 51 was passed; Emily Schue, Gretchen <br />Miller, and D. W. Hamel received majority of votes cast for Wards 1, <br />4, and 5, and their names will appear on the City ballot in the November <br />1978 general election. No Council candidate having received a majority <br />of votes for Ward 6 Council position, the names of Ted Brandt and Eric <br />Haws will be placed on a City ballot November 1978 general election. <br />John Bartels will appear on the City ballot November 1978 as the candi- <br />date for Wards 4 and 5 for EWEB. Jack Craig's name will appear on the <br />City ballot in the November 1978 general election as the candidate-at- <br />large position for EWEB. <br /> <br />Mr. Delay was pleased to announce his ward had supported Ballot Measure <br />No. 51. He had a question regarding the necessity of a Council candidate <br />having his name placed on the November ballot again, after he had received <br />a majority in the primary election.
