The <br /> members picked for the team are dedicated street policemen. Mr. Hamel <br /> conqratulated Serqeant Rivers on his presentation at the Rotary Club <br /> meeting a few weeks ago. <br /> IX. RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TRANSFER OF FUNDS TO CONDUCT A PARK AND SHUTTLE <br /> EXPERIMENTAL PROGRAM <br /> Manager said a circular explaining this program will be going to various <br /> owners of businesses downtown and to individual employees; plus, posters <br /> are to be placed at various sites. The bus shuttles will occur between <br /> Autzen and the Lane County Fairgrounds and the downtown area for a 60-day <br /> trial period and for an additional four months, if successful. $17,000 <br /> of the requested bl.ldqet transfer woul d cover the first 60 days of payment <br /> to the Oorsey Bus Service. Parking, free of charge, has been worked out <br /> with the Fair Board and the University. <br /> Dr. Bob Loomis, 3540 Pearl, Chairman of the Downtown Development Board, <br /> said developing this program has taken about six months. It is an at tempt <br /> to present some alternative transportation modes. Roth the University and <br /> the Fair Board been of great assistance. He feels the proqram should work <br /> beaut i fully. The service will provide buses at 20-minute intervals going e <br /> from Autzen to 8th Avenue and from the Fairgrounds to 10th and Olive. Mr. <br /> Delay asked how peak demands will be handled. Dr. Loomis said that the <br /> Dorsey Bus Service has indicated they can be very flexible, adding or <br /> deleting buses as necessary.
