Gioello www.eugene-or.gov Contact Telephone Number: 541-682-5453 ISSUE STATEMENT The City Council is scheduled to take action on a street name change for the portion of Suzanne Way which extends north of Crescent Drive to Tennyson Avenue. The request was submitted by Living Strong, LLC. A vicinity map is provided as Attachment A. BACKGROUND On September 10, 2018, the City Council held a public hearing to consider the applicant’s request for the street name change of Suzanne Way north of Crescent Drive. Suzanne Way, on the north of side of Crescent Avenue, is an approximately 236-foot-long unimproved public street. At its northernmost point, Suzanne Way curves 90 degrees to the east and connects to the westernmost portion of Tennyson Avenue. Both described portions of Suzanne Way and Tennyson Avenue are unimproved and there is currently no development along either section of these roadways. Both portions of Suzanne Way and Tennyson Avenue are scheduled to be improved by the applicant as a local public street concurrent with the development of Crescent Place Apartments. Applicable Criteria This request for street name change is being considered in accordance with section 9.8485 of the Eugene Code. The relevant approval criterion from EC 9.8485 for the proposed street name change is listed below: The planning commission shall recommend, and the city council shall approve an application for a street name change upon determining that a proposed renaming is in the best interest of the city. Consistent with the required process, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on July 10, 2018, and unanimously recommended approval of the street name change. The findings provided with the draft ordinance (see Attachment B) demonstrate that changing the street name of Suzanne Way north of Crescent Avenue to Tennyson Avenue is in the best interest of the City.
