Goals, Objectives and General Comments What are the Manager's most important strengths in performing his job? Strong leadership skills Accepting responsibility for each department Ability to respond and react to changes in Council direction Dennis is clearly very committed to his work, to the organization, and presents himself very well as a visible member of the community in a variety of venues. Dennis is very straightforward in one-on-one communication. He has continued very positive financial management policies in the organization. He seems to be a very good negotiator, based on the tidbits I've heard regarding various projects and intergovernmental issues. Dennis has the ability to be objective. When decisions are made to change the direction of the organization, he may take acceptation to it but, embraces the direction of Council. Organized Energy Vision Leadership Effective ~ getting clarity from Council Outgoing, candid, generally interested in promoting the City - willing to work with others to achieve common goals. Dennis hires good, competent people and appears to delegate well. He understands the different roles that Council has; his office has and the organization has and works hard to have each part of city government perform its role effectively while not intruding on another's role. The City Manager brings a strong set of skills to his job and is noted by managers and mayors across the country for his professional integrity. He works well with the Mayor and Council to identify goals and to work with staff and community to achieve those goals. The City Manager is willing to work to "yes". He is well respected and liked in the community. He believes in this community and its human and natural resources. He is energetic and personable. 2O
