2. What steps can be taken to improve the City Manager's performance?

There are many many competing priorities here that tend to stretch Dennis pretty thin at
times. Ultimately the Council can help in this area by focusing on the high level strategic
issues and not throwing unnecessary or untimely additional irons in the fire. The
Council's eight identified priority issues are a good step in this direction.

Executive Manager 5:

1. He truly believes in this City, likes the community, and is willing to do
whatever it takes to help the City.

3. What steps can be taken to improve the City Manager's performance?

I would encourage Dennis to continue to stay on track for developing a city wide
strategic plan, and to continue to teach the organization and elected officials the value of
that. Also, look for ways to continue to build trust between elected officials and staff.

City Manager Evaluation 3 July 2005
Executive Manager Comments
