CITY MANAGER EVALUATION <br /> Division Manager Comments <br /> <br />Division Manager 1: <br /> <br />1. In what areas does the City Manager's performance meet your expectations? <br /> <br />Dennis Taylor leads by example, takes the time to really learn about each of the city <br />divisions, helps us understand that we are part of a bigger City process, and listens to our <br />ideas in a way that makes us feel he wants to know what our individual challenges are. <br /> <br />2. In what areas does the City Manager's performance exceed your expectations? <br /> <br />Dennis Taylor inspires me to try harder. He puts in the time at meetings, public events, <br />and City procedures. In short, he does "walk the talk" and I see him doing this even <br />when folks are giving him a hard time. He always tries to reach for the high ground. He <br />is positive and a great cheerleader for the City. He sees its potential, not just its <br />problems. He makes me want to help him succeed. Overall, a terrific leader. <br /> <br />3. What steps can be taken to improve the City Manager's performance? <br /> <br />I guess part of being such a positive leader is that we don't always know what the things <br />are he doesn't like or maybe won't support ahead of time. My sense is that his specific <br />concerns, positive and negative, are supposed to be conveyed through his Department <br />heads to us. I would just.encourage that we receive as much information as early as <br />possible through that system so that we are always working on projects that he is ready to <br />support. <br /> <br />Division Manager 2: <br /> <br /> 1. In what areas does the City Manager's performance meet your expectations? <br /> <br />Dennis is extremely competent in city management. He is very cognizant and respectful <br />of the role of manager & the role of mayor/council. He always keeps in mind the best <br />interests of the City of Eugene. <br /> <br /> 2. In what areas does the City Manager's performance exceed your expectations? <br /> <br /> Dennis is a delight to watch in small group strategic discussions, such as at work during <br /> an Exec's meeting as he's pulling in insights from his team over a tough issue. He's also <br /> thoughtful, intelligent, hardworking, and brings a personal touch to many individual <br /> interactions. He is particularly skilled at discussions of inspiration and vision.
