MovingAhead Spring 2019 Outreach Summary 15 <br />Open-Ended Comments <br />More than 900 open-ended comments in seven categories — one for each draft package, one associated <br />with participant-built packages, and one more general — were recorded from the online open house <br />and in-person open house comment forms. Themes and trends are listed below. <br />Enhanced Corridor <br />Package rating by number of responses per scale point <br /> <br />Typical Concerns <br /> Capital cost per trip is too high <br /> Need more increase in ridership, reduce travel time, improve safety for bicyclist and pedestrians <br /> Not enough investment to help community / growing community <br /> Need to stop building mass transit projects <br /> Doesn’t encourage using alternative transportation <br /> High cost for low benefits <br /> Doesn’t help people who drive <br /> Only 56 percent of investment goes to corridors that have disadvantaged populations; or <br />investments are not focused on corridors with disadvantaged populations <br />Typical Support <br /> Neutral impact on lifestyle <br /> Low impact in displacing families and businesses <br /> Low impact in removing trees <br /> Low cost means better chance of public support. <br /> Low cost with some increase in ridership <br /> Extra routes at little cost seems promising <br /> Addresses short- and medium-term goals for improving public transit <br /> Ride-time improvements and ridership increase seem like a good value <br /> Benefits all five corridors <br /> Meets biking needs <br />34 36 <br />23 <br />45 <br />50 <br />Works Well Works OK Neutral Some Concerns Major Concerns <br />July 15, 2019, Joint Work Session – Item1
