with neighborhood residents ~J address

i
our concerns." The pa.l.cicular
standards in these code amendments for the Chambers Special Area Zone
will not be the same ones needed for our River Road neighborhood.
However, the City's willingness to establish standards that WILL
protect the character of particular neighborhoods, is an important
precedent.

I urge you to vote yes on these amendments. They send a positive
message that the City will be responsive to the concerns of residents
in our neighborhood (and others} .

Encouraging density in mixed use centers or at "opportunity sites"
will help make increased density "livable" and thus help prevent
sprawl and preserve the UGB. Design standards that make new and
infill development more compatible (and thus palatable) will reduce
resistance to it. This is a win-win for all.

Sincerely,

Becky Riley
202 Hawthorne Ave.
Eugene, OR 97404
461-4281

2
