pressure be less than 50 pounds per square inch above the <br />maximum working pressure. <br />~3} Riser shut-off valve and drain. Each individual <br />riser shall be equipped with an OS and Y valve at its base <br />and an approved valve for draining. <br />~4} Fire de artment connections. Ail four-inch combina- <br />tion standpipes shall be equipped with two-way fire department <br />connections. Ali six-inch combination standpipes shall be <br />equipped with four-way fire department connections. Combina- <br />tion standpipe systems with three or more standpipes shall be <br />provided with at least four-way fire department inlet connec- <br />t ions . Each fire department connection shat 1 be 1 ocated on a <br />street front not less than 18 inches nor more than four feet <br />above grade and shall be equipped with an approved straight- <br />way check valve and substantial plugs or caps. Al 1 fire de- <br />partment connections shall be inspected against mechanical <br />injury and be visible and accessible. The number of fire <br />department connections shall be the number that the fire de- <br />partment finds necessary for adequate fire protection. <br />~5} Outlets. Every standpipe shall be equipped with a <br />2-1/2" outlet with adapters for 1-1/2 inch hose not less than <br />two feet nor more than four feet above the floor level at each <br />story. All standpipes shall be equipped with a three-way <br />2-1/2 inch outlet above the roof line when the roof has a <br />pitch of less than four inches in 12. Roof outlets are not <br />required for roofs with a pitch greater than four inches in <br />12. All outlets shall be installed so that a 12 inch wrench <br />may be used in connecting the hose, with a wrench clearance <br />on all sides of the outlet. A standpipe located in a smoke- <br />proof enclosure shall have an out1 et i n a vestibule or balcony. <br />A1] such outlets shall be provided with 100 feet of 1-1/2 <br />inch, approved-fabric hose that is equipped with an adjustable <br />low-pressure spray nozzle that is approved by the fire depart- <br />ment. An approved hose and nozzle shal 1 be instal 1 ed i n a <br />hose cabinet, and a dripcock or drain connection likewise <br />approved shal 1 be 1 ocated between the standpipe outlet and the <br />hose. Roof outlets and outlets i n bui 1 di ngs or portions of <br />buildings equipped with a complete automatic fire extinguish- <br />ing system may not be provided with hoses. In areas subject <br />tv freezing, wet standpipe systems shal 1 be protected from <br />freezing. <br />~6} Sins. An approved, durable sign with raised letters <br />at least one inch high shall be permanently attached to all <br />fire department connections and test connections and shat 1 <br />read: "Combination standpipe and test connection." <br />~~7} Section 11.101 of the Uniform Fire Code is amended to read: <br />Section 11.101 -Outdoor Burnin and Fire Hazards, <br />~a} Except as subsection fib} of this section allows, no <br />person may kindle, maintain, or allow to be kindled or maintained <br />On premises under his control, an outdoor fire. <br />~ b} The following outdoor fires are permissible: <br />1.
