Pr. oject Name: Biocycle Farm Phase 3 <br /> <br />Description: Final 120 acres of the Biocycle Farm - site preparation begins in 8/07; <br /> planting in 3/08 <br /> <br />Justification: Land already purchased and provides additional area adjacent to BMF for <br /> application of liquid and dewatered biosolids. Expansion of the BF <br /> provides MWMC with more flexibility and control of overall biosolids <br /> management program. <br /> <br />Project Driver: Increased solids production at the E/S WPCF and currently storing an <br /> excess inventory of biosolids in the lagoons. <br /> <br />Project Trigger: BF Phase 1 and 2 loading limits for liquid and dewatered biosolids are <br /> reached. Also, might accelerate if loss of cooperative farming land <br /> application sites occur. <br /> <br />Type of Project 100% Performance <br /> <br />Estimated Project Cost $300,000 <br />(2004 Dollars): <br /> <br />Phasing: Budgeted for FY2007/08 <br /> <br />Project Name: Conversion to Sodium Hypochlorite disinfection <br /> <br />Description: Convert existing chlorine gas system to sodium hypochlorite for the base <br /> flow. Retain the existing chlorine contact basins. Install system with <br /> capability for high rate disinfection of PE diversion assuming high dosages <br /> of chlorine into a 72-inch pipe and small chlorine contact basin. <br /> <br />Justification: Liquid sodium hypochlorite and sodium bisulfite system will replace the <br /> existing chlorine sulfur dioxide gas systems and increase the disinfection <br /> capacity from 175 mgd to 277 mgd. <br /> <br />Project Driver: Operator and community safety issues. <br />Project Trigger: Phasing with other related projects. <br />Type of Project 50% Capacity; 50% Performance <br /> <br />Estimated Project Cost $4,100,000 <br />(2004 Dollars): <br /> <br />Phasing: Budgeted for FY2007/08 <br /> <br /> <br />
