Its current role as a major entrance to~the city from the north <br />is seriously hampered by the lack of curbs and sidewalks, continuous <br />. and , poorly-defined driveway .accesses to adjacent ~ businesses, <br />prol~ferat~on of overhead..utlity wires, and total lack of si nificant <br />landsca a amenities. ~ . ~ ~ g . <br />p . . <br />,Design direction for the coming reconstruction of Highway 99 has been <br />suggested by earlier plans, developed in 1974's, but never carried out, <br />This design direction would involve shiftin the future im roved road <br />to the g ~ p way <br />. east within the existing right-of way, in order to provide <br />sufficient landscape area and sidewalks on both sides of the roadwa as <br />Y~ <br />well as space for landscaped median islands.
