are provided. <br />X15} Section 10.3o7~d} of the Uniform Fire Code is amended to <br />read; <br />~d} Standards. Fire extinguishing systems shall comply with <br />the Standard far Installation of Sprinkler Systems, NFPA Standard <br />#13, 1980 edition as adapted and copyrighted by the National Fire <br />Protection Association. <br />EXCEPTIONS: <br />1, Automatic fire sprinkler systems shall have at <br />least one water supply of adequate pressure, capacity and <br />reliability. <br />2. Automatic fire sprinkler systems may be connected <br />to the domestic water supply main when approved by the chief <br />provided the domestic water supply is of adequate pressure, <br />capacity and sizing for the combined domestic and fire sprink- <br />ler requirements. In such case, the fire sprinkler system <br />cannect~on shall be made between the public water main ar <br />meter and the building shutoff valve and there shall not be <br />intervening valves or connections. The fire department con- <br />nections may be omitted when approved by the chief. <br />3. The sprinkler alarm valve for an automatic fire <br />sprinkler system may be omitted when the sprinkler system <br />serves less than six heads or where the system is connected <br />to an approved fire alarm system. <br />X16} Section 10.308 of the Uniform Fire Code is amended to add: <br />~ h } Group SR Occupancies <br />1. Di v,~s~ on 1 Occu~anci es , Parti a1 autamati c s ri nkl er <br />-. ~. p <br />system is required as specified. <br />~a} Automatic sprinklers as specified in NFPA <br />Standard 13, 1980 edition, using standard pipe sizing <br />and head spacing in required locations shall be installed <br />in the following areas: <br />~1} exit corridors; <br />~2} exit stairways; <br />~3} inside room entrance corridor} doors <br />or other openings which face on interior exit ways. <br />Single-head location shall be nv more than six and <br />no less than four feet inside doors except that when <br />side-wail sprinklers are used they shat 1 be located <br />above the opening. <br />~4} any other paints necessary to ensure the <br />protection of the exit way. <br />fib} A water supply shall be provided sufficient to <br />operate at least five sprinkler heads simultaneously for <br />a period of 20 minutes at a residual pressure of not <br />less than 15 pounds a square inch at the highest head in <br />the system, Supply may originate from: <br />~1} domestic water supply; <br />~~} separate connections to public mains; <br />~3} on-site reservoirs or tanks, or <br />~4} wet standpipe lines. <br />~c} Bui 1 di ng fire-alarm systems shat 1 be connected <br />to a sprinkler system water-flow device. <br />Ordinance - 5 <br />
