Section 2. Subsection ~1} of Section 2.050 of the Eugene Code, 1971, <br />is amended to provide: <br />2.050 Air art Commission - Created; Terms. <br />~1} There is hereby created an Airport Commission, hereinafter <br />referred to as "commission," which shall consist of nine members nominated <br />by the mayor and appointed by the council. Two of the members shall be <br />selected from recommendations made by the Lane County Board of County Com- <br />missioners. The two members recommended by the Board of County Commissisoners <br />shall be residents of Lane County, and may reside inside or outside the city's <br />urban growth boundary. The requirements of section 2.0136} of this code <br />that members reside within the city's urban growth boundary at the time of <br />their appointment and during their term of office is specifically waived for <br />the two members of the commission recommended by the Board of County Commis- <br />sioners. The chairman of the Aviation Committee of the Eugene Area Chamber <br />of Commerce shall be an ex officio and non-voting member of the Airport Com- <br />mission. His or her term shall coincide with his or her term as chairman of <br />the Aviation Committee. Other ex officio members may be appointed by the <br />mayor; however, they shall act in an advisory capacity and may not vote. <br />Section 3. Anew Section 2.170 is added to the Eugene Code, 1971, to <br />provide: <br />2.174 Eu ene Celebration Steerin Committee. <br />~1} A Eugene celebration steering committee is created, consist- <br />~ng of 21 members nominated by the mayor and appointed by the council, <br />which shat 1 be responsible for coordination of the annual Eugene Cel ebra- <br />tion. <br />~2} For the term of office commencing January 1, 1989, seven <br />members shall be appointed for a one year term; seven members shall be <br />appointed for a two year term; and seven members shall be appointed for a <br />three year term. Thereafter, all appointments shall be to fill an unexpired <br />term or for a three-year term, as the case may be. <br />~3} In order to encourage involvement from metro-area residents <br />in the activities of the committee, the requirement of section 2.013~b} of <br />this code that members reside within the city's urban growth boundary is <br />waived to the extent that up to six members of the committee need not reside <br />within the city's urban growth boundary at the time of their appointment or <br />during their term of office, provided their place of residence is located <br />within 30 miles of the city limits. <br />Section 4. Subsection ~3} of Section 2,224 of the Eugene Code, 1971, <br />is amended to provide: <br />ordinance - 3 <br />
