4. Other Health Hazards. <br />* Including highly toxic or toxic compressed gases. <br />Section 80,243 -Hazardous Materials A endix. Descriptions and <br />examples of materials included in hazard categories are contained in <br />Appendix VI-A. <br />Division III <br />Storage Requirements <br />Section 80.301 -Hazardous Materials, General. <br />~a} ScO~e. This division shall apply to the storage of <br />hazardous materials in excess of the exempt amounts specified in <br />Sections 80,302 through 80.315. <br />EXCEPTIONS: <br />1. Hazardous materials regulated by other articles <br />in this code unless specifically indicated in this diviw <br />sTOn. <br />2. Indoor storage of liquid and solid oxidizers, <br />organic peroxides, unstable reactive} and water- <br />reactive materials in quantities less than the exempt <br />amaunts shall be as specified in Sections 80.306, <br />80.307, 80.309, and 80.310. <br />fib} Containers and Tanks. <br />1. Desi n and Construction. Containers and tanks sha11 <br />be designed and constructed in accordance with nationally <br />recognized standards. See Section 2.303~b}.} <br />2. Tanks Out-of-Service 90 Da s. Any stationary tank <br />not used for a period of 90 days shall be properly safeguarded <br />or removed in a manner approved by the chief. Such tanks <br />sha11 have the fill line, gauge opening and pump connection <br />secured against tampering. Vent lines shall be properly <br />maintained. Tanks which are to be placed back in service <br />sha11 be tested in a manner approved by the chief. <br />3. Defective Containers and Tanks. Defective containers <br />and tanks sha11 be removed from service, repaired, or disposed <br />of in an approved manner. <br />4. Em t Containers and Tanks. Empty containers and <br />tanks previously used for the storage of hazardous materials <br />sha11 be free from residual material and vapor as defined by <br />D.O.T., R.C,R.A. or other regulating authority or maintained <br />as specified for the storage of the hazardous material. <br />5. Under round Tanks. Underground tanks used far the <br />storage of hazardous materials shall be 1acated and protected <br />in accordance with Section 79.601 and 79.603 of this code. <br />Secondary containment sha11 be provided for all new installa- <br />tions of underground tanks. <br />6. Above round Tanks. Aboveground stationary tanks <br />used for the storage of hazardous materials shall be located <br />and protected in accordance with the provisions for exterior <br />storage of the particular material involved and shall be <br />marked as required by Section 80.301~d}, <br />Ordinance - 25 <br />
