The breathing appara- tus shall be suitable for use with the material stored and shall be located near the immediate area of storage in a loca- tion that provides safety to those expected to don the appara- tus. A safe area is one which is not likely to be immediately affected by the release of hazardous material in the area of concern. A written Respiratory Protection Plan, personnel training, and equipment inspection, maintenance, and record keeping shall be provided in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.134. EXCEPTION: Where self-contained breathing apparatus would be inadequate protection due to the nature of the gases present, other appropriate protective equipment shall be provided.
