Underground tanks containing <br />hazardous materials shall be located and protected in accord- <br />ance with Section 79.601 and 19.603 of this code. Secondary <br />containment shall be as provided for all new underground tanks, <br />7. Above round Tanks. Aboveground tanks containing <br />hazardous materials shall be located and protected in accord- <br />ance with the provisions far exterior storage of the particu- <br />lar materials as specified in Division III. Such tanks shall <br />be marked as required by Section 80.401~n}, <br />~c} Pi in , Valves and Fittin s. <br />1. General. Piping including tubing}, valves and fit- <br />tings conveying hazardous materials shall be installed in <br />accordance with approved standards and shall comply with the <br />provisions of this subsection, <br />2. Desi n and Construction. Piping, valves, fittings <br />and related components used far hazardous materials shall <br />comply with the following: <br />A. Piping, valves, fittings and related components <br />shall be designed and fabricated from materials compat- <br />ible with the material to be contained and shall be of <br />adequate strength and durability to withstand the pres- <br />sure, structural and seismic stress and exposure to which <br />they may be subjected. <br />B. Piping and tubing shall be identified in accord- <br />ance with nationally recognized standards to indicate <br />the material conveyed. <br />C. Emergency shut-off valves shall be identified and <br />the location shall be clearly visible and indicated by <br />means of a sign. <br />D. Approved back-flow prevention ar check valve <br />systems shall be provided when the back-flow of hazard- <br />ous materials may create a hazardous condition or cause <br />the unauthorized discharge of hazardous materials. <br />3. Sup ley P~p~ng. Supply piping and tubing for gases <br />and liquids having a health hazard ranking of 3 or 4 in accord- <br />ance with UFC Standard 79-3 shall also comply with the follow- <br />. <br />ing• <br />A. Piping and tubing utilized for the transmission <br />of highly taxis or toxic material shall have welded or <br />brazed connections throughout unless an exhausted enclo- <br />sure is provided if the material is a gas, ar the piping <br />is provided with a receptor far containment if the mater- <br />ial is a liquid. <br />EXCEPTION: Nonmetallic piping with approved <br />connections. <br />B. Piping and tubing shall not be located within <br />exit corridors, within any portion of an exit required <br />to be enclosed in fire-resistive construction or above <br />areas not classified as Group H Occupancies. <br />EXCEPTION: Such piping and tubing may be in- <br />stalled within the space defined by the walls <br />Ordinance - 61 <br />
