rs~~3 <br />for inspection by the fare marshal. <br />The following shall apply to smoke detectors <br />within apartment house dwelling units: <br />a. The building owner or his designee <br />shall .post written instructions f~r.~the opera- <br />tion of the detector within each dwelling unit, <br />b. The tenant of each dwelling unit <br />shall be responsible for periodically testing <br />the unit's detector, The building owner or <br />his .designee shall not be responsible if a <br />tenant removes a battery from a detector. <br />c. Upon failure of the detector, the <br />tenant shall deliver a written notice of fail- <br />ure to the building owner or his designee. <br />d. The owner shall replace or repair <br />the defective detector within ten ~14~ days <br />of the date of notice. <br />3. In Group R, Division 3 occupancies every <br />existing dwelling that is being rented., leased, or <br />is otherwise being occupied for consideration, and <br />each guest/sleeping roam in a lodging house, shall <br />be equipped with an approved detector. Detectors <br />within qualifying buildings shall be mounted on <br />the ceiling or wall at a point centrally located <br />in each corridor or area giving access to rooms <br />used for sleeping purposes. when actuated, the <br />detector shall sound an alarm audible in each sleep- <br />ing room. The following shall apply to such detec- <br />tors: <br />a. The building owner or his designee <br />shall post written instructions for the opera- <br />tion of the detector within each dwelling unit. <br />b. The tenant of each dwelling unit <br />shall be responsible for periodically testing <br />the unit's detector. Section 1314 Fire Extin uishin Systems, is hereby <br />amended to read: <br />~a~. Group SR, Division 1 occupancies: <br />1. General.
