Construction Worl{ Program <br />of a new Police Services headquarters building and At the same time that the City was developing a <br />a new City Hall were the next tier of projects, with plan for future space needs, a broader effort was <br />design for the Police Services building projected underway to develop a vision for the future of <br />to begin in FY05, and a replacement of CiB7 Hall downtown Eugene. In 2000, the Eugene City <br />targeted to begin design in FY08. Council appointed a Committee for Greater Down- <br /> town Visioning to explore the future of downtown. <br />Development of more specific recommendations The vision that emerged promoted downtown as a <br />on replacing Ci~' Hall has been deferred until the thriving, active urban center with ties to our rich <br />Civic Center Design Charette was completed and natural heritage; a variety of intermingled acfivi- <br />recommendations from the Mayor's Civic Facili- ties; and safe, inviting streets. In 2001, the City <br />ties Visioning Commktee were provided to Coun- Council accepted the Vision for Greater Down- <br />cil.
