Bids for the construction of sewers under Ordinance No, 1~29 and Ordi. nance No. 1~_~31 were read, and Councilman Bell moved that the Council now finds and determines that the bids of App!ewhite f~ Stein for the construction of each of said sewers are the lowest and best bids for said respective sewers and ti~at the Council now awards the contract therefor to said Applewhite & Stein and the Mayor and Recorder be instructed to enter into same on behalf Of the ~ity of k~gene. ~otion seconded and carried. Bids for tt~e improvement of the alley under 0rdir~nce No. 1W2~ were ~ead and Councilman ~{c~urphe¥ moved that tt~e Council now finds ~nd deter'~ines ~ti~at the bid of A. C. }~{athews for the improvement of s~id alley is the lowest ~nd best bid ~nd that the Cohneil award ti~e contract to t~im in accordance wit~ his bid and the ~{ayor and Recorder be instructed to enter into sm~e on behalf of the City of k~gene. ~{otion seconded and carried.
