JUDY 20, 191b~. <br /> <br /> Bids for the construction of a sewer between Ferry and Patterson Streets <br />from Ninth Avenue South to !~{illrace were opened and read, and Chairman Bell <br />the Sewer ~o~ittee moved that the Council uow finds ~md determines theft the bid <br />of O. }{. t{ahany is the lowest and best bid for the construction of said sewer, <br />and that the Council award the contract to him in accordance with his bid, and <br />the ~{myor and Recorder instructed to sign the contract in behmlf of the City. <br />Hotio~ was seconded and carried. <br /> <br /> Bids for the pavir~ of East Ninth Street from High Street to the 0., & <br /> <br />R. R, were opened and re~d, ~nd remonstrances against said improvement were pre- <br />sented by V{. T'~ ~ampbell signed by Rebec~ G. Thompson, Mrs. Sarah L. Long and <br />George Long, Leona M. Blair. and Do~-a H. Peters. I,.~otion was made, seeor~led and <br />car~-led to rolex, the bids and remonstrances to the Street Com~ittee for consider- <br />ation and ~eport at tl~e next meeting of the Council .... <br /> <br /> ~e !{~yor reported t}~t }{e~y Standley was on ~ leave of abseuce, and that <br />his pay for services as dump tender should be dr~vex to include the .l~th day of <br />July, and that he had appointed A. S. B°napmrte to substitute for Mr. Standley. <br />Motion was ~de and seconded that A. S. Bonaparte be placed on the re~.~lar pay roll <br />at the same salary paid ~. Standley, his warrants to be drawn~when other salary <br />warrants are d~a~rn and s~lary to co:m~enee July 16th. Tl~e ayes and nays were <br />called; Councilmen v~ting ~ye Joh~lson, }{empy, l.~c~&:rphey, Bogue, Bell, Be2tien <br />and Goodpasture, nay none, absent Devereaux. The motion was declared carried~ <br />and so ordered. <br /> <br /> Motion~ was made, seconded and carried ti~at the Council wait upon the <br /> <br />County Court to see what could be done about supplying water to preserve the <br /> <br />trees in the. parks. <br /> <br /> Petition of A, C. Jennings asking tha~ ~ sidewalk be built on Charnelton <br />Street from ~'ifth to Fourth Avenue was referred to the Street Committee. <br /> <br /> · Hotion was made, seconded and carried that the Co~u~cil.do now adjourn to <br /> <br />meet July 27th at 7:~0 o'clock P.
