JANUARY 25, lglS. <br /> <br /> Co~uucil Chambers, A~gene, Oregon, January 25, 1915. <br /> <br /> Council met p~suant to adjourrur, ent of January 18th, and was called <br /> <br />to order by ~yor Yoran. Present Councilmen Joi~nson, Parks, ~[eNuPphey, <br /> <br />Bo&~%e, Bell, Deveree, ux, Beytien and Goodpasture. <br /> <br /> Letter of H. T. Holtz & Co. regarding the retire~ent' of Refunding <br />~;~Prant Bonds was referred to the Minance Com~ittee. <br /> <br /> An 0rdinanee fixing the for~ oF $~,250 Improvement Bonds of the City <br /> <br />of Eugene was read and passed its second and third re~dings by title under <br />~uspension of tt~e ~-u!e and was placed upon its final passage. Councilmen <br /> <br />voting aye 8, nay none. <br /> <br />The Ordinance was declared passed and numbered #1683. <br /> <br /> On motion consideration of the 0rdin~.nce assessin~ the property of <br />%¥. P. Cheshire for the paving of Sou~n Willamette Street was continued ~uatil <br />February 1st. <br /> <br /> In tt~e matter of the opening and extension of Fourth Avenue ¥~est <br /> <br />from Blair Boulevard to the West line of Tyler Street, the report of viewers was <br /> <br />read and the Recorder was instructed to give notice that the Council would con- <br /> <br />sider said report and hear objections thereto on February 8, 1915, at 7:30 <br />o'clock P. N. <br /> <br /> A petition requesti~w~ the Council to vacate and change the boundaries <br /> of Agate Street between the rice,t-of-way of the Oregon & California R~ilway Co. <br /> and 21st Avenue to a width of 70 feet was read ~nd referred to the Street <br /> <br />i Committee. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance 'to prohibit minors from frequenting billiard halls, pool <br />rooms, card rooms, and from playin~i~ cards for chance, and fixing the penalties <br />therefor, and repealing all Ordinances in conflict tkerewith was read and passed <br /> <br />its second and third readings by title under suspension of the rule and~was <br />placed upon its final p~ssage. Councilmen voting ~ye 8, nay none.~ The 0rdi- <br />n~nce was declared passed. <br /> <br />At this time ~. Wallace of the 0bak Amusement Co. called attention of the <br />eo%~eil to the fact that the 0rdin~noe would prohibit,minors from entering <br />soft drink establishments, and a motio~ was made 5nd seconded that the vote <br /> <br />upon the final pass~ge of the 0rdin~nce be re-considered. The motion was <br />carried. .~otion was made, seconded and carried that the Ordinance be laid over <br />for re-consideration until February l, 19lS. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance to improve Higj% Street fron~ t,~ifth Avenue East or the <br />i Soutt~ern Pacific Railroad Tracks to Fourth Avenue East in the City of Eugene was <br />\ <br /> <br /> <br />
