OOTOBER 23 ~_ 1916. <br /> <br /> 0ouncil Chambers, Eugene, Oregon, October 23, 1916. <br /> <br /> Cozn~cil met pursuant to adjournment of October 9th, and was called to <br />order by ~ayor Bell. Present Councilmen Polders, Parks, Peterson, Koppe, <br />Nosher, Quimby and Goodpasture; absent Devereaux. <br /> <br /> Report of the Directors of the Eugene Public Library was read and <br />placed on file. <br /> <br /> Quarterly report of Treast~er Stiekels was read and referred to the <br />t~inane e Committee. <br /> <br /> Request' of' Paul G. Bond for a revocable permit for the use of a certain <br />portion of Franklin Boulevard for temporary improvements %u~der the direction of <br />the Building Inspector and Street Co~mmittee was referred to the Street Com,.ittee <br />and City Attorney. <br /> <br /> Petition of the Lane County Dahlia Club asking the City to adopt the <br />dahlia as Eugene's official flower was read and laid over for consideration. <br /> <br /> Request of the Board of regents for permission to construct a new side- <br />walk on the north side of Thirteenth Avenue between Mincaid and University <br />Streets seven feet wide was referred to the Street co~j~ittee with power to act. <br /> <br /> An 0rdinanee levying assessments for the construction and erection of an <br />ornamental street lighting system on both side.~ of Seventh Avenue from Olive to <br />High Streets was read, and notice of the hearing of objections having been duly <br />given, objections were called for and none heard; whereupon the Ordinance <br />passed its second and third readings by title by unanimous consent under suspen- <br />sion of the rule and was placed upon its final passage. Councilmen voting aye <br /> <br />7, n~y none, absent Devereaux. <br /> <br />#la8O. <br /> <br />The 0rdinanee was declared passed and numbered <br /> <br />An 0rdinanee Levying assessments for the construction and erection of <br /> <br />an ornamental street lighting system on both sides of Eighth Avenue ~ast from <br />Willamette Street to Pearl Street was read, and uotiee of the hearing of object- <br />ions having been duly given, objections were called for and no~ heard; whereupon <br />the Ordinance passed its second and third readings by title by unanimous consent <br />under suspension of the rule and was placed upon its final passage. ~ouneilmen <br />voting aye V, nay none, absent Devereaux. The Ordinance was declared passed <br />and nttmbered #1881. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance to amend Section i of Ordinance No. 186~ was read and <br />passed its second reading by title and was laid over. <br /> <br /> ~laim of F.
